Orgeron was promoted particularly as a means of guaranteeing that we keep Aranda, and that Aranda is, at this juncture, essentially our HC-in-waiting.
While it is of significant importance to us to wrest control of our situation from whatever UT and the Herman camp may decide to do, the long view of transitioning to Aranda is the premium advantage afforded us by this move.
If Orgeron is indeed primarily an insurance policy to keep Aranda, then I fully expect Aranda to come out of this with full autonomy over the defense (recruiting, game planning, staffing, etc) and hc money. We'll see.

I don't think Alleva hires Orgeron without a commitment from Aranda. But then again, it's Alleva.

This situation is not remotely comparble to the Archer hire. Not even close.

Agreed, even more important than the OC hire to LSU's future prospects. For that matter, if we're in the market for morally challenged individuals like Kiffin and Sarkisian, why not offer Art Briles a 3 yr contract at OC? Just dont pull 70 yr old Norm Chow out of mothballs, and by any/all means please thank old Pete Jenkins for his time and go out and get Bo Davis!
