What a terrible way to end the season. I imagine he’ll be on the phone with every opening come tomorrow morning. He’s done all he can at Mississippi State

QB going down changed the game. That said, I think he has coached his last game at MSU.

Think he goes to UT?

He’d jump at the chance. Depends on if they want him or not

This is what happens when it is widely reported you have an interview two days after the game.

Why would a close loss because your starting QB goes down cause a coach to leave?

Wasn’t really a loss due to bad coaching. I don’t think he should have gone for the first onside kick with that much time remaining but still 5 turnovers QB injured and only lose by 3.

Good news bad news for MSU fans.

Good news: if he doesnt leave with all the jobs that are open he will never leave starkville.

Bad news: He's probably gonna leave if he ever wants a chance to win any type of championship

He has been trying to get out of town for a long time. Just no upgrade job has every been offered. uT or FL are good fits.

Why does Mullen get a pass for losing 1-2 games a year that they're expected to win handily? Same thing with Jimbo. Playing young guys seems to be acceptable for those coaches when explaining losses, but not for others. Just seems inconsistent.

Anyway, yea Mullen is a solid coach, not great, but solid, and would do well with more resources. Maybe at a school like Florida he could field a legitimately good team more than once every 3 years.

Not to be flippant, but even Saban averages a loss or so a year to inferior teams - every team they play has inferior talent.
Miss State recruits in the bottom quartile of the SEC, and that recruiting level is basically immutable. Under Mullen, they play a lot better than that. See no reason why his teams wouldn't play above their recruiting elsewhere. That's how I look at it.

Was LSU expected to beat MSU & Troy?

Reasons for losing?

Should Orgeron get a pass?

Orgeron hasn't gotten a pass at all lol. That's my point.

So why does Mullen get one? Did his quarterback also play defense? Is that why ole miss gashed them?

Does Orgeron get credit for turning things around since the Troy game?

I have no problem with that logic. Just not sure why LSU fans don't apply the same logic when we lose a game to a miss state team early in the year with a banged up defense starting 3-4 true freshman. Especially if we are gonna turn around and say Mullen is great. Incongruent isn't it?
