Well then maybe he needs to hire a low-end guy, for pretty little money. Make sure that guy is great at developing QBs, or use some of the saved money to hire a QB coach along with him. Then he can be the Sean Payton type holding the play card the entire game and controlling the entire offense.

Either that, or give 95% of the control to the guy he hires.

It's possible that maybe Miles is causing some of our problems on the offense mixing his style with the OC's.

Tressel calls the plays at Ohio State. He has an OC in title but he calls the plays. So does Petrino at Arkansas.

Yes I know HC's do it all but my point was(sarcasm) that Les sure isn't concerned about clock management, timeouts etc. Hence, he has nothing else going on on game day. Might as well take on more responsibility. Les ought to just get a quality OC and tend to those game day issues that he once told us would never happen again. And as we all know they did.

If Rich Rod were OC he would call the plays.

Since GC is now gone, we have to assume that Les thinks there needs to be a change in offensive leadership and or philosophy. We as a fan base totally concur with that and have wanted a change for a while. He can hire a no name and have his hand in play calling, but to me that could come at a cost. If this is done, he better be ready for more personal criticism if it doesn't go well. I think he would try to keep that criticism to a minimum and at the same time get a quality OC that matches his philosophy. That being said, I think Les will try to make a hire equivalent to Chavis' on Defense. He was an experienced proven coordinator and the results prove that it was successful. I don't know who it will be, but I just hope if it is between someone like Gonzo or Justin Fuente, he would go with the latter. Coordinators are so important, just look at what the KC Chiefs were able to do with quality guys running both sides of the ball. Les is a great head coach (CEO like), but we need an x's and o's coordinator on offense that is great at grooming QB's. I don't know what Gonzo brings to the table as far as that is concerned. One thing I know, Les is a lucky son of a gun so whatever he chooses will probably work out.

honestly, i just hope we can get a guy who can devlope our qbs and get the most out of them. i don't thin crowton is a bad oc, his bigger problem was the lack of qb development. also, i would much rather les hire someone who fits his style of offense, rather than trying to combine his style with another. someone mentioned the guy from wisconsin (in another thread) and it makes perfect sense imo.
