re: How can Deboer to PSU be anything other than a meme?

I despise Bama but why the f would you leave them to go to PSU?
The unrealistic expectations of their fan base make them an intolerable place to work. ie, an Alabama woman being asked what she would do if she won the lottery, and the first response is "get KD out of Alabama, and this was after one loss to Florida State. Add to that the lottery she would've won was about a 1/3 of what she would need to cover those costs.
So, unrealistic expectations plus being stupid is the bulk of their fan base. Just go somewhere else and enjoy your life.

I can see DeBoer wanting to leave Bama for PSU for only three reasons:
1. The pressure is way, way, WAY higher than he was anticipating. I can buy that, but then why go to PSU? They just fired a guy who was winning at a higher clip than DeBoer has so far managed at Alabama. Doesn't make sense to me.
2. The spotlight on DeBoer and his family is too bright. In Seattle I'm sure the DeBoers could go out for dinner and not be recognized all that often. In Alabama he is the most recognized and recognizable person in the state. Not only he but his family has to deal with the burden of celebrity. Again, I can understand if that is too much for them, but then again, why go to PSU? I can't imagine the situation there would be that much different.
3. He just doesn't like living in the South. This is the one that would be the magic bullet to me. If he'd prefer to be up north around Yankee types, well, there isn't much we can do about that. Although northeastern Yankees are a far different breed to northwestern ones.

if he goes it will be to get away from the pressure of the SEC in general and Alabama specifically.

I still stand by at least the first part of it.

In my mind the biggest issue with Deboer to PSU is who the hell would have a better setup than Alabama? The only people I can see even competing with Alabama is Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas.
This.
Alabama, it hurts me to say, is the best job in college football. The only place that's anywhere close is Ohio State.
