re: How bad would it be for the program if Miles went to Arkansas?

I know the majority of LSU fans believe that if Miles were to leave, we would instantly find the next bear bryant and vastly improve this program. B/c hey, thats what Miami did after all those titles they won in the 80s and 90s right?

Yea, and all the Louisiana recruits would still go to LSU because of the name not the coach...
those posters don't remember the 80's an 90's when tons of La's best kids ended up at Fla schools...

Assuming his agent tries to work this notional offer, does anyone think Miles deserves a raise or contract extension to stay?
only if there is some kind of "Les dont touch the offense" clause

I've avoided the Miles to Arkansas threads, but I have to say - why in the frick would Miles leave LSU for Arkansas? I know the question is just "what if", but some dumbasses seriously thought this was on the burner at some point.
He must have really enjoyed that cool weather last Friday

I think it would be devastating...
Besides the difficulty of finding another elite coach, CLM would be in our backyard exploiting all of his Louisiana recruiting connections...
The word disaster comes to mind...
omg
you might be the dumbest person i've ever seen on here

It would be devastating all right
Devastating for Arkansas
C'mon you hicks, hire Miles.

It would be terrible for the Arkansas program. We just dumped JLS. We don't need any more clown coaches.
disagree. The whole reason for changing the LSU game to Fayetteville was so LM could come up to Fayetteville, check out the facilities, tour the sod farm, see the hills, and see for himself how much he'd love it.
Brilliant, Jeff Long. Brilliant.

How many times have you been called a drama queen?
A lot I bet.
If Miles doesn't blow this shite off immediately, I'd force his arse out and hire Del Rio the next day...end of story. I'm not saying the W-Ls would be any better, but he could maintain the program just fine.

This is being given WAAAAY more credence than it should.
I say there is no way this happens. This is a marginal raise and he has more money than he can burn now.
And Arkansas is not in the same league with LSU. Not even close.

I did not say anything about this scenario being likely...I just said it would be bad for LSU...

History says that the program would take a small step back, if we're lucky.
LSU's football program has already defied history once with what Les Miles is doing with the program now. Very rarely does a coach come shortly after a national championship winner and actually make the program more successful. Jimmy Johnson of the late 80s Hurricanes are the most recent example that come to mind.
So you're telling me we're going to change philosophies and coaching staffs again, and remain a top 5 team?
And no team or brand sells itself. Don't care where you are, you need talented recruiters to get them to the school. The top guys especially want to be begged and have their butts kissed. Ask "The U" how they're doing 10 years after fielding the most talented roster in college football history.

I don't see many players from down here (especially offensive players) going all the way to Arkansas just to play for Miles. JMO
