Seriously north of 6.75 million is a lot of money for an average coach. I think O & Ensminger could do about the same for far less

Not someone whose program is in decline.

It is not your money. The season ticket price will go up no matter what. I would not worry about money. Hire the best guy.

No, that is why he is considering the offer.

The fact that there are people that would prefer O to Jimbo is mind-boggling.

It is incredible that people have to be convinced Orgeron isn't qualified for and should not get this job.

You bring up Ole Miss, they say too long ago.

You bring up no coordinator job or head coaching since, they say he didn't want to do those things.

They say he just needs an elite OC and DC, and you point out that doesn't make him more attractive as a head coach, just less. You also note that you should just promote Aranda since it is easier to find one elite coordinator rather than two. They object because Aranda doesn't have head coaching experience.

They bring up his interim stints and don't listen when you say enthusiasm can right a ship, but not build one.

You bring up that no one else would consider him for their openings, they say that doesn't matter he's right for this job.

You ask them what O's signature win is at LSU, and they say all the teams he beat were good when he played them.

They now say NO ONE could have won with this roster or made the changes necessary despite the fact that LSU was universally regarded as a playoff contender before the season.

They say he "learned" since Ole Miss but won't give Mallory, BDP (better full time head coach winning percentage), Dooley, Chizik, or Charlie Strong the same benefit of the doubt for this job.

They argue that you should remember that Belichick and Pete Carroll weren't quite as good as they ended up being in previous stops. When you argue that hiring failures just because you aren't sure who will be the outlier is stupid, they don't really have an answer for that.

They said he had to win all but one, and couldn't lose Alabama, then he loses to Alabama and it changed to just that he has to win out ignoring Alabama.

You bring up that we are just coming off a recruiting heavy light on Xs and Os guy, and they just say that he won't interfere. No thought is given to overall game planning, game management, overall program philosophy, or criteria for hiring these elite coordinators he's supposedly going to bring in.

They put a lot of stock into the fact that practices aren't physical and have catchy names.

Perhaps most concerning, they largely say they think Jimbo would be a "meh" hire.

So, I'd say some people just want a cajun who pretends to like LSU to get a head coaching job for the same reason I like Phil Mickelson: they make you feel like YOU could be a head coach or professional athlete.

When you are desperate, it's not that much. Overpay just so you feel like you did something.

Ask that question in 2 years. If he is doing great, then yes he was worth it. Ask again in 4 years. Same thing.

But if he is not doing well, all these people saying pay the man whatever it takes, they will be the ones saying he was not worth it. And wanting to fire the AD for overpaying.

I don't think so. I still believe it should be Coach O or even Herman

Tell the truth. Do you think Jimbo should be making Nick Saban type money?

His current salary? Yeah, considering Nick will be making whatever Harbaugh is this time next year.

Fisher is the best and most proven seemingly available coach. If LSU thinks he provides the best chance of success, LSU should do what needs to be done to lock him down. It doesn't matter how he compares to Nick Saban or some other unavailable coach if he is the best available.

Money is not a factor/issue for LSU. They will pay what they think is needed to get the guy they want.

"Money" seemed to be an issue with firing Miles last season didn't it? Now all of a sudden we have expendable cash?

If LSU wants to pay him 25 million a year why do you care? If they pay him less none of that is going to trickle down to you.

These guys salaries are so irrelevant to compare

You do realize that O wants to run a pro style too and Jimbo doesn't need a majical OC to carry him through his tenure right?

Dak Prescott is looking pretty great to me. But our idiot coach wanted him to be a tightend.

They just coached a team that scored 10 points and lost to a 14-point underdog with a heavily injured roster on Senior Day in Tiger Stadium. And that team is about as talented of a team as they're going to have minus the QB position (and the QB played a good game against UF).

my thoughts are yes, b/c every year coaches pay will continue to climb and we have a guy settled for a few years that can bring us an NC.
