Is this old news? @sportsbybrooks has lots of inside info. Worked one on one with him for years.

Did you know there are two Harbaugh brothers coaching in the NFL?

Sounds like a rumor

Herbie did say in an interview he wanted to get into coaching and also said that he had told Urban that when he got back in it he would like a shot. He then went on to say that the Urban thing in his mind is a rumor and at that point he had not been offered any coaching jobs

Jessie Palmer hopes this happens. Then he will have the cushiest job in the world.

Has been rumored all week.
Hard to believe that Herbie would want to take a pay cut (my assumption) to take a poor job security job that requires very long hours, while giving up a very cush gig.

He's been at that job for 16 years now, maybe he's ready for something different. I see nothing wrong with it

If Herbstreit has been smart with his money, he can do almost whatever he wants. Under those circumstances, it could be an acceptable risk.

If true, can ESPN please not hire someone new or have one of the main guys come from Ohio State!

This is just idle speculation, but perhaps the hire and exposure of Desmond Howard is aimed to transition him ultimately into Herbstreit's seat.

Why would he leave his cush job where he makes a 7 figure salary to become a position coach making about $300k?

He wants to be a coach and involved in that program. Money would have very little to do with it. And don't assume everyone has a bottom feeding work ethic.

Strong rumors LSU assistants Strudwa and Gonzales could be headed to Ohio State with Urban Meyer.

Bad move by herbie. Why would youngombecome a qb corch when you are the nations number one cfb analyst?

Herbie moved his family to Nashville this year to get out of Columbus. I recall that he cited that it was not a good place to raise a family. We shall see.

I can see him doing it for a change of pace, but it seems to be a strange career path for a "personality." The man lives for the attention and will fade into oblivion as an asst.

heard this a few weeks ago, just seems like a dumb rumor. pretty sure urban would want an experienced coach working with a young guy like miller.

During his press conference next Saturday, Les Miles needs to announce that his sources have indicated Kirk Herbstreit has accepted a coaching position at Ohio State.

He just said he already has his dream job calling games and doing Gameday.
