Why would he tell the players he intends to stay? Pretty shitty move if true.

I've never heard of coach requesting this type of contractual obligation. There has to be more to it.

I kinda think the opposite. I think Miles is a thoughtful and disciplined man. I think he's been totally focused on preparing LSU for the bowl game, and on recruiting - basically just working hard as a coach. I think he made the decision to allow himself time to consider his future after, and ONLY after, the season was completed.

Now that he has time to consider his future, he is weighing his options, and trying to get the best deal for himself and his family.

In the end, pressure notwithstanding, he's in a very enviable position. He has to make a choice between two very good options. If you've ever been in this position, you know that you make an inventory of all the factors that go into the decision, and you talk it over with your spouse and confidants.

Nothing about the process has been the least bit surprising to me. The fact that he might try to improve his position at LSU from both a stability stand point and from a financial stand point is to be expected.

He's a big boy, and he knows that LSU needs to protect it's future interests as well. LSU may not be ready or willing to give much in the way of guarantees at this time. That's business. He can, and should, use his Michigan offer as leverage to improve his negotiating vantage point with LSU.

In the end, I think he will choose to stay at LSU, where he at least knows what he's got. Les is a man that knows the grass isn't always greener in the other pasture.
