I'd be very happy with that. People may knock the Bowling Green name, but we'd be all over him if he did that at a Michigan or Texas type of school (and will be if he does it at LSU).

The stats may be impressive (didn't look), but his tenures would not comprise "an impressive resume" if that is one of the hints. I'm not saying I would necessarily be against an Elko hire, it just doesn't seem to match with the hints.
WTF
That is a very impressive resume. He has created a dominating defense at Bowling Green in every measurable category.
Please point out all the successful SEC DC's that are available

I also feel that it will be someone with experience recruiting the south. So I just dont buy Elko being the guy.

That was my thoughts as well. No need for a long repeat post.

I bet we could get him to take the job while offering him way less than some of these big name guys....
not just that but having to be satisfied with the coaching personnel that is already in place.

Like I said, I wouldn't necessarily be against the hire but good stats at small and mid-level schools do not make for a good resume (one of th hints).

So what is impressive about that resume, even without the name?
This is the part that stood out for me. Chief sometimes had problems with 3rd down situations and LSU hardly ever has seniors on the defensive unit.

The 2012 defense would finish as the fourth-best third down defense in the nation, allowing a first down on just 28.1 percent of the time. Their fourth down defense was just as good, finishing fifth in the country at 26.3 percent. They would end the season ranked 11th in sacks (38), 12th in rushing defense (106.5), 13th in pass defense (190.1) and fifth in first downs allowed (15.1). All of this was accomplished with just two senior starters.

I am looking for WF stats from 2014 to see how they did. maybe that'll add to it

I like Elko's resume for sure. Plus he's young and got something to prove being at an elite school. Would love that hire especially if we could couple him with BeBe for DL

If we could keep the staff in place that we have, get Elko, and get coach O... I would love Les forever

100% disagree.
This shows he has been GREAT at every stop, in different leagues, at different levels, with different head coaches, and with different style teams.

Elko spent five seasons as Bowling Green's defensive coordinator. The Falcon defense led the Mid-American Conference in scoring defense, total defense, rush defense and pass defense in each of the last two seasons. In 2013, four BGSU defensive players were named to the All-MAC first or second team.
Elko's Bowling Green defense excelled at forcing turnovers and stopping opponents on third down. Over his five seasons as defensive coordinator, the Falcons forced 106 turnovers or 1.7 per game. Bowling Green held opponents to just 35.9 percent third down conversions over those five seasons. In both 2012 and 2013, the Falcons ranked in the top 10 in the nation in both total defense and scoring defense.
The 2012 season was a banner year for the BGSU defense, finishing the season ranked sixth in the country in total defense (296.6) and 10th in scoring (16.7). The Falcons held the opposition to under 100 yards rushing in nine contests as the Falcons had six different players earn All-MAC Honors, including three first-team members (Chris Jones, Gabe Martin, BooBoo Gates). Jones would go on to be named a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).

Prior to Bowling Green, Elko was the defensive coordinator at Hofstra from 2006-08. He also served on Clawson's staffs at Fordham in 2002-03 and at Richmond in 2004-05. Elko coached the No. 1 passing defense in the Colonial Athletic Association with Hofstra, holding teams to just 136.8 yards per game through the air.
Hofstra's defense ranked first in the CAA and 11th in the FCS in rushing defense, second in the conference and 15th in the country in total defense, and fourth in the CAA and 37th in the FCS in scoring defense in 2007

He sounds like people are going to melt at the name.
Says to "examine the resume"
why would we melt at the name Mike Elko? None of us have ever heard of Mike Elko
a WHO? is not a melt, melting requires a familiarity

Not possible. If Elko is hired then an assistant coach will have to go for there to be room for Coach O.

Consistent success at anything at a MAC school, I'd argue, is even more impressive because of the shite talent you're working with.

I watched their entire game against Clemson....their defense was solid and kept them in the game the entire way and was really impressed by their secondary.
It would be interesting to see what he could do with our talent.

me too. you can have success at those levels and it translate to big programs.
They played mid level teams so similar athletes playing against each other. it actually may be more impressive to do it with less talent. SEC would be the elite athletes playing elite athletes. It's the scheme and coaching of said athletes

Ott was kind of making a good point as they went off the air today. He said he doesn't think Bebe will be on this staff just because he doesn't have the personality that Miles usually requires to be on his staff.
