To be fair - LSU was coached by window lickers. It is not so, anymore.

Why leave UGA when the immediate future looks so good?

More money?

Or a chance to come home?
For one thing, he's a WR coach. Have you seen the WRs coming out of LSU recently? Have you seen the WRs coming out of UGA since AJ Green?

He gets his name out there for those NFL WRs.

Facts. I love LSU but BR and New Orleans are in bad shape. I retire this year and the only way I would come back to Louisiana is if family really needed me. Makes me sad to say that, but as I have gotten older quality of life matters. I guess if I was making $500,000 a year, BR would be tolerant

Athens is an 8 hour drive to New Orleans

Baton Rouge is an hour drive to New Orleans

It's not that hard to figure out why he would come to LSU

True, but I just had a Grandchild in Metairie. My brother just got out the Marine Corps after 30 years and is in Gonzalez. Home is home, can't put a price tag on being around family. I've lived other places in the Marines and came home, stupid I know but just me not saying anything for anybody else.

The NC game is over.

I thought this was a done deal from the sounds of the board?

It was pretty immediate that his name came up as the WR coach and that New Orleans area recruiter after Kelly was hired. I'm sure he's being compensated very well to make the move, but that tells me a lot of it is about coming "home."

My UGA buddies who stay pretty plugged in say we gave him a big raise, he went to UGA to match, and they said they'd give him better terms but couldn't match it so no counter was officially made. They said he's a decent coach and great recruiter, Kirby would like him to stay, but UGA didn't feel the need to overpay as much as LSU.

Weird, our insiders said last year they were looking to push him out the door. He’s a good coach and a decent/good recruiter. We were looking to replace him so it doesn’t make sense to counter.

They were looking to push him out last year but just never got around to it, huh.

They wanted continuity for a run at a championship which paid off. He’s a good get for LSU and will probably thrive better recruiting the state to LSU. He just didn’t control the room like he needed. And clearly we need a legit qb coach. Hire one and slide Monken over to his natural spot in WRs. It’s a win win for both programs.
