Great Offense Coach Vs. Great Defense Coach

Obviously, LSU needs both to compete.
Which would you prefer the new coach to be? A great offensive mind or a defense guru?
I'd prefer an innovative offense minded coach. I want to see the scoreboard light up.

Defense wins championships. Go look at all the past NC teams. Over the last 5 or 10 years, on average they all have better defenses than offenses.
Could care less whether the HC is offensive or defensive, as long as he hires the right personnel.

I'm fine with either, as long as they hire good assistants and let them do their jobs.
I realize that if we put a bunch of points on the board real fast with some type of no-huddle spread, there's a good chance we'll have points scored on us due to the defense having to stay on the field so much. I'm OK with that as long as we're winning.
It's just a matter of hiring the right assistants that understand your strengths/style and can implement a strategy that not only supports it, but makes the team as a whole much better.

Ohio State last year was the exception to that rule.
I think that having both a dominant offensive and defensive line, particularly the latter, also goes a long way in improving your chances of winning a title.

We haven't had a great offensive coach in a long time. Les Miles has benefitted from some really great defensive coordinators. Whenever our defense is average, it shows. If we can get another great defensive coordinator with a top flight offensive coach then the sky is the limit.
