Saban gave Ausberry the names of three other college head coaches to consider if LSU can’t get Kiffin – Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz, Georgia Tech coach Brent Key and Louisville coach Jeff Brohm, the source said. “But he told Verge that Lane is the one,” the source said.
He also gave the name Houston Nutt to replace him when he took off for the Dolphins, lol

lol yep he owes us for that. If he shepherds lane here all is forgiven.

Exactly. Saban has fond memories here but he also tried to come back here. Skip turned him down. To saban, we are even.
I mean, what was Skip supposed to do? Fire Miles after a Sugar Bowl victory and #3 finish in the nation?

I don’t know that Nick has any loyalty to LSU. Verge talked to him as a resource, which is not a bad idea. Whoever we hire I’m sure Nick doesn’t care that much. It’s no skin off his nose. I can’t imagine Saban being upset with whoever we hire.

I’ve heard he’s helping with the search. And if he’s advocated on our behalf to lane, that’s a big deal.

Saban said on College Gameday that Lane should stay at Ole Miss.

This now makes all the sense in the world Pirate King is GG…

Yes, there’s that too. You would think if he is pushing LSU to Lane he wouldn’t say that on TV. Maybe he’s playing some 3-D chess nobody but Sexton and Lane understand?

I will never not believe Glenn Guilbeau was planted by Jeffy Boy at that press conference. Take anything that GG says with a grain of salt.

Well, at least it’s not Napier. Hahahaha.

I think Saban recommended Nutt at the time because he wanted a placeholder if the job with the Dolphins didn’t work out. I don’t know if he has a genuine interest in helping LSU in this search but I don’t believe he has any conflicting reason not to. He is a mentor to Kiffin even if their personalities seem to clash. If anything, I think there is a part of him that doesn’t mind seeing Alabama falter if his ego and legacy are boosted. Even better if at the hands of someone from his coaching tree. Just my uninformed 2 cents.
