Cmon man. I mean hell. I'm not saying he's going but if someone throws $10M at him per year, why the hell not?

I love all the folks who act righteously indignant when people go for the money. As if 99% of you wouldn't.

Sure. Is $5M enough? Yep. And $10M is even more "enough".

Saban left the Dolphins to go to Alabama for less money. True story.

Spoken like someone who's never left a job for a job that they think is better. In other words, spoken like a failure.

Meh. I don't even like the SOB.

But damn. There aren't many people walking the Earth who, given the opportunity, turn down a doubling of their pay from $5M to $10M.

This. I find it particularly fricking hilarious that Alabama fans think he's loyal to them

Fledgling coach desperate for a way out. Wasn't interested in Bama until they went to unprecedented $$$s.

I've got no beef with him, but I can understand how people would roll eyes at him if it turns out that he, Terry and Sexton at least partially orchestrated this shite show to get yet another extension out of Bama.

LOL. Yep.

Of course, there really aren't any coaches in America except maybe one or two oddballs who meet the definition of "loyal" if that definition is "would turn down a doubling of their pay at a comparably significant school and stay at their old school".

He'd be crazy not to take it. That's what makes this so fun.

True, but how many mediocre seasons do you think the Dolphins would have put up with even if he wanted to stay?

Meh. I think most Bama fans would make the argument that the job at Alabama is one of the best Saban can get, not that somehow Saban feels obligated or otherwise tied to Bama. Other than coaches at their alma mater, what coaches are really that loyal. He's at a great football school, has the control he wants, gets paid well, and seems comfortable and happy.

If he leaves, that will suck because he's the best coach in the business, but I won't think he's evil. He's just taking what he sees as the best deal for him and his family. If he leaves in a shitty way, I'd criticize him for that, but coaching is a career, not a marriage.

Yep. If someone offerred to double my salary tomorrow, it would be all I could do to even have the courtesy of giving my current employer 2 weeks notice. They'd be lucky if I didn't just shite on their front door step!!!

FIFY. If I offered anyone of you a job with a 6 figure increase, we would be closing this afternoon. People are separating business and coaching perspectives, they are intertwined together.
Does moving to UT improve your quality of life and your future after football? If his answer is yes, then he should take the job.
FWIW, I think he stays. Doesn't look like he plans on coaching too much longer, why start somewhere new. But that is just what I think. I personally would take the money and make them buy me a lake house on Lake Travis (and a boat to ride into Austin when I don't want to get in the car they would get me also).

I don't think Saban is all about money. I think he also has a massive ego that is no longer being stroked at Alabama. His wife has already leaked his whine: he doesn't feel appreciated.
