The games are tomorrow, not yesterday. Past results become less and less important as each day passes.

Program history Is a factor, but it’s pretty low.

I took a new job in August and idgaf what the guy before me did here, it’s my job now. I looked at pay, location, opportunity for success, stability, etc.

Would Jimbo Fisher have survived the rape allegation with Winston today?

With the Baylor scandal and the timing of today's climate I don't think Fisher would have survived.

Taggart, all things considered, had a great year. The reason I'd guess taggart will stay is how loaded Oregon is next season and how strong his recruiting class is. But if it comes out that he just wasn't happy, then I would support his move.

Most of the Oregon staff has very strong ties to Florida. I don't think he would leave after a year for any job other than Florida or Florida State. If it truly is his dream job, those opportunities do not come along very often.

My somewhat biased perspective on Taggart...

Lights out recruiter, as seen with this current class. Can he develop the talent? That remains to be seen at Oregon. I think that's something you can't judge until about year 3.

Great at game plans. Struggles to adjust if things aren't like he planned for the game though. I'd be a little worried about how massive the dropoff was when Herbert was injured. Is Herbert that good or Burmeister that bad? They win maybe 4 games without Herbert.

I think their offense will always be good under Taggart. How critical is it to Taggart's success to hold onto Leavitt? Can they be a consistently good defensive team under Taggart or will it be heavily reliant on who the DC is?

Buyers remorse isn't rape, even today. That gal had no credibility.

bruce feldman has said all along he would leave for one of the Florida jobs. tough blow for oregon no doubt, but hard to blame a guy to take a big job in his home state.

Why? A&M is very similar to the "sleeping giant" that LSU was before Saban arrived. They have the money, talent base, facilities, and fan base. They are actually set up better than LSU was because the facilities at LSU were dog shite when Saban arrived.

The state of Texas may produce some soft-arse Front 7s and lackluster DBs, but what is not in dispute is ability to produce QBs, Fisher's specialty. Jimbo can get them to consistent 9-10 win level with 3 years, and he will be there for another decade.

DB talent has been pretty solid the last several years IMO. Front 7 though for sure

And in 2006, Bama was at the bottom and had historic losing streaks to Auburn and LSU. By your logic, they wouldn’t have been propped up by anything. History played a MASSIVE role in their resurgence. Without that history, Saban doesn’t go there after Miami. History will ALWAYS matter in college football.

If you think bucking history is easy, go talk to old FSU, VA Tech, and K-State fans.
