This is beyond disappointing.

Cue the Mike Stoops to NU rumors.

Big time. It's all over the Nebraska boards.
Husker fans are tired of promoting within the staff, like they did when OC Shawn Watson left last year.

I don't know why Carl Pelini even had the reigns for DC. He didn't have the experience of his brother to be doing so. With Pelini being more of a manager this year, with a first time OC, he didn't have his hands on the defense as much. I think it showed.

Agreed 100%.
Carl hasn't been the same since he turned down the Tennessee DC position when Dooley was hired.
Bo needs to bring someone in who understands his system. Either that, or give the title to John Papuchis and let Bo have most of the control like he did in his first two years.

As a fan of a fellow Sun Belt school....

Terrible hire. If Garrick goes to Houston, that's a much better situation anyways

Houston is gonna get Chad Morris.

And Here. We. Go!

Let's make something clear: Mike Stoops, the former Arizona head coach and longtime friend of the Pelinis, said Friday he hasn't talked to Bo Pelini about any potential coaching opportunities at Nebraska.
As of this moment, there are no full-time openings on Bo's staff. However, it appears Husker defensive coordinator Carl Pelini could be set to take the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic, perhaps as soon as Monday. So, if an opening develops at NU, would Stoops be interested? "Of course," Stoops said Friday.
After all, the Pelini and Stoops brothers became particularly close at Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, after attending different elementary schools. Mark Stoops was a groomsman in Bo’s wedding. Said Mike Stoops on Friday: "We're great friends, and I have great respect for Bo and what he's done." “Our families are close,” Bo Pelini said in December of 2009. “We always will be.”
The late Ron Stoops Sr., Cardinal Mooney’s longtime defensive coordinator, is a tie that binds the families in a football sense. He coached his four sons (Bob, Mike, Mark and Ron Jr.) and all five Pelini boys. “All the Mooney coaches had a big influence on us, and obviously Ron Sr. had a major impact,” Bo Pelini said in 2009. “He was not only a hell of a coach, but also a great role model with how he was with his family." We'll see where this goes.

I think Garrick is the favorite at UAB.

He's not the lead candidate.

Pelini has hired Marvin Sanders as his DC.
BIG pickup for him.
A lot of the success that Prince and Dennard had in college can be credited to Sanders. And with valuable recruiting ties in Florida, Sanders is going to do work at FAU.
