yea, looks like paul took all of the good players and put them on offense. his D was substandard. good move. when the acc gets more accustomed to the option, he's gonna need a stiffer D to win games. he's a good coach, but his o is a one trick poney and will catch up to him. of course, he'll be financially set when it does. now, if you're posting this to get at miles for not firing crowton.........toche.

I admire Johnson for this. Record does not mean everything. His offense clearly won those 11 games. He looked at performance and not results and saw there could be an improvement in performance and made the change.

As mentioned before, I just wish someone around here would have that mindset.

I don't know if that's 100% true. Now as more tape is compiled then yes the opposing DCs may find ways to stop it, but it is always going to be hard to prepare in just a week to play against an option team.

I think you'll see Tech do ok each regular season and then continue to get beaten in the bowls when teams have more time to prepare.

It's called CYOA. You can fire just so many until it catches up with you.

There is a lot of tape out there. It's the same O he ran at Navy and GSU.

One of the big reason's it isn't working as effectively as it can at GT is that CPJ doesn't have his players in there yet. Hell at O-line we were starting a former walk-on and a converted TE this season. Gailey left the cupboard bare at O line.

I do not know if it was bare or more that Gailey did not recruit the type of players that Jonson needs to run his offense. As Jonson get more of his types in, they will get better and more dangerous. Their defense was not the good this year and replacing their DC was the correct move.

He wants to win, and he'll do whatever it takes. Don't you wish Les Miles was more like him?

His offense isn't a one trick poney. It's as simple as assingment football. If you don't play it, his offense will kill you; if you do, you beat them.

Navy has won the last two out of three vs ND with this offense.

Well it is true that they don't fit the scheme exactly but in 2006 Gailey had 0, O-line recruits and in 2007 he had 2.

Any spread tries to spread the field to get 1-on-1 matchups, the reason GT lost to LSU was that LSU won those 1-on-1 matchups. LSU's D-line absolutely owned GTs O-line. Same thing happened this year with Iowa.

If you actually look at the stats of the Orange bowl other than the sore you'll see GT didn't do too horribly on D and Dwyer still averaged near 5 ypc. GT also had special teams gaffes: kicked opening kick out of bounds, failed a fake punt, allowed an LSU fake punt, allowed an LSU onside kick.

That's effectively 3 turnovers and then giving short fields, any team will lose. Plus it was the first year in the new system. GT actually did pretty well last year.

Not really, CPJ is the master of halftime adjustments. He changes his blocking schemes to screw with your assignment football tactics.

If you look at rushing statistics the yards per half is astounding. Especially the VT game.
GT had 37 first half rushing yards and 272 second half rushing yards.

GT= late 80s Arkansas under Hatfield.

Option offense without balance- Check

Win in a weak conference- check

said offense shut down in bowl game- check

fanbase believes this unbalanced offense will win a NC-check

Dont stop believing,GT

Navy is putting up consistent 8 win seasons and bowl victories since CPJ installed his system. That's great with his recruiting limitations.

If you want to compare it, compare it to the other service academies which face the same limitations. Navy has lost 1 game to another service academy since he got there.

however it is currently only a one trick pony b/c of the weak o-line which can't pass protect and the fact that Nesbitt can't hit the broad side of the barn.

his O will pass slightly more and will take advantage of when opposing Ds stack the box as much as they do, once he gets better play from his oline and qb.
