Expectations for a New Hire

With the lack of information, it got me thinking about what would be my personal expectations for a new hire.
Analytics: LSU has a great staff with Marucci being the leader. I'd like to see less coaching by the gut and more use of data for both game prep and in game decision making.
Staffing: LSU should be producing great position coaches and coordinators. I personally don't mind seeing assistants having success and taking off for better jobs. It's a sign of a well run program. LSU's coaching tree should be all over the country.
Recruiting: I'm not saying LSU has to have a top 5 recruiting ranking every year, but top 10 should be the floor. The new coach should be well acquainted with NIL and its direction. Also, continue Ed's pace of walling off the state.
Fluidity: Just like life, change is apart of football. Embrace all good change, don't get stuck in past success, move to what's working in the current context. Stubbornness in the wrong places lead to poor results. Make adjustments, don't let pride rule the day.
Execution: LSU's floor should be 9 wins. There is too much talent and resources for anything less. A coach who evolves with the game, uses information well and takes advantage of recruiting should be producing teams that compete for the playoff consistently.
Culture: I work at a company that talks about culture ad nauseam. I think good culture comes down to growth. Are your people growing in their roles? Players, students, volunteers, admin, etc, are they enjoying what they doing and growing into better, more equipped people?
Just some thoughts.

4 team CFP within 3 years
National Championship game within 5 years.
National Championship within 8
Don’t care how they do it.

I'd settle for a Coach that can teach tackling, coverage and stop dropping passes.
Our overall tackling has been horrendous this year. I hate our DB's always trying to chip a guy.
Wrap the guy up.

Culture is the big unknown.
Do we make it all about getting to the NFL?
New man must strike balance. But it seems very tough in this new age.

I didn't cover teaching in my post. That's not a bad trait to add.

You make players more equipped to handle their jobs and life, the NFL will take care of itself.
Personal belief.

Yeah, and it doesn't seem to hurt Bama. All his players respect him and some even come back being projected 1st round picks. That speaks volumes at the culture they built into that program.

I'd love Lincoln.
Don't sleep on Matt Campbell either.
He checks most of these boxes as well. The recruiting box is the only one that doesn't apply due to geography and resources.

O was already doing this, so…he’s the one who took the constraints off Marucci and let him do basically whatever he wanted.

Have you done a 180 on how well Campbell would fit at LSU, or am I confusing you with someone else?

If true, I'd like that trend to continue.

That's not me, ask around, Matt's been my guy for a few years now.
Here is the thing about Campbell, he won't play the games certain recruits will want to play, which is why LSU will miss out of on those certain recruits. There will be fans that might not be accepting of this fact.
Campbell would never land a guy like Walter Nolan because of his recruiting process.
I'm good with that. But I'm not everybody.

I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed.

Then he’s a no go.
I love Campbell and he can coach up 2 and 3 stars to compete at Iowa State. But if he’s not willing or able to get down and dirty and recruit in the SEC the way it needs to be done, then he can’t work here.

This is a positive, not a negative. Nolen is an extreme example though. Orgeron wasn't even willing to play the game Nolen's camp was playing.

I think that's rub. I think it's a fair argument.
However, how down and dirty do you need to get if you are locking up NIL deals?
NIL changes recruiting. These deals won't be brown bags of cash, they will be signed contracts. This helps a guy like Matt who puts an emphasis on character.
