He said he would stay at LSU and not go to Michigan. He said he would be LSU's coach "NEXT SEASON". He pledged his loyalty to LSU...and yet people still believed he would bolt for Michigan after the MNC game. The media owes Miles an apology, which, of course, won't happen. LSU fans should have taken the man at his word. He has never given us a reason to not trust him. I'm glad to still have him as our coach!

agreed, but he was not totally forthright in his interpretation of the events, still love the guy and he is about as honorable as you can expect from a coach...especially in the SEC

If he truely intended to be LSU's coach, he should have said He was not interested in even talking to Michigan. He should have said for Michigan to stop wasting their time and his about being their coach, because this is distracting to his team. Instead, he did what most coaches have done recently. He used it to get a pay raise. He gets a pay raise if he loses or wins the National Championship. Granted, it will be larger if he wins. With all that being said, he did stay at LSU, but clearly he used the Michigan situation to his advantage. I'm glad he stayed.

He didn't get ap[ay raise. He signed a 2 year extension under the same exact terms.

His contract is extended to 2012, and I believe it is to the 2.8 mill a year range!! I guess I should have included his extension as well. You guys don't think he used the Michigan deal to get an extension?? Give me a break. Granted, going to the National Chmapionship may have gotten him one alone. Pay raise and extension

And that's because he wanted the job.

He never said this at first. If he did, then the so-called trashing never would have started.

It is only till 2012. It is not like Miles got Coach for Life

I think 2012 would have been on the table because that does seem like a noraml time period

AGREED. Les didn't play us, he didn't take advantage of us, he didn't lie to us. All he got in his amendment, from what I have read, is a pledge of security from LSU and free education for his kids, should they choose to attend. He expressed only that he wanted to stay. He passed on Michigan, which would have had him in a heartbeat if he pushed the issue with them. Now he may lead us to the National Championship. I've seen all I need to see.

Who said anything about coach for life?? You are drinking the koolaid if you don't think Miles used it to his advantage. He gets a raise, an extension, and he gets 5 mill more if he is fired. What more do you need guy?? I'm glad he stayed, but if he truly wanted to be LSU's coach, he would have stuck to his original contract, and let the cards play out.

Was the extension and the extra 5 million for being fired in his contact?? No!! Was this going to be talked about if Miles was not talking to Michigan?? I doubt it. He got something for all of the Michigan talk. That is the only point I'm making here.

I believe that Coach Miles wanted to go to Michigan but was put in a very tough situation.
I feel that he put his players and his team first
and made the deciesion to remain at LSU. I am glad he stayed and have gained greater respect for him.

So he shouldn't want to make more money for his family and try to better himself?

You sound like those idiot Michigan people that believe their HC position should be done free of charge for the honor of such a prestigious position.

STFU

He's done a good enough job to deserve a raise. Other programs would love to get him. Sewing this up without any adjustments to the deal other than a few minor things is one hell of a positive commitment in my mind. Especially these days.

He proved he's a man of his word. He tried to do right by his alma mater. The guy has personal honor which is a hell of a lot more than a lot of programs can say about their coach.

There actually was a pay raise negotiated into the deal before the SECCG...

Basically what this did was limit the downside if he lost...But since he won the new number was surpassed by winning the game so the number they negotiated was pointless...I mean you gotta realize Coach Miles was at what 1.8 mil this year?? If he wins Natl Champ will be between 3.2-3.5....Thats a pretty damn good raise.

If he would have lost the SECCG then you would have seen the new ammendment have a new term plus the new deal amount :)

Make sense?

Win the Championship, that is what matters. We have a coach for a while now, lets win and recruit.

Good lord, ya'll sound like little girls bickering. He stayed true to his word. In this day and age, that is rare. Shut up and be happy.

Belowpar!! What a happy day! Everyone has to totally shut up about MY FAVORITE coach having any ideas about leaving MY FAVORITE team!! I am giddy with happiness that Les is now going to be left alone and seen as the AWESOME, DEDICATED, LSU coach that he said he would be!!!! I've been gone all day long, but couldn't wait to get to TD when I got in to check on everyone's response!! :dude:
