If I had to guess Woodward has a handshake deal with someone before making the firing of Coach O public. Who that someone is I have no idea but probably will be big name.
Thats how he operates. Only way this is different if he is being handcuffed by the President and in this case Woodward will not be at LSU long!

He was firing o whether he has a handshake deal or not. Handshake deals fall through all the time

In honor of the coaching changes board I was able to watch the second half of the movie "In the Heart of the Sea" and enjoying the White Whale as it pertains to LSU.
For those unaware of literary tales, there is only one White Whale.
As for what coach that could reference it's obvious. But the white whale is the white whale because it's impossible to land.
