Even Fitzgerald from NW doesn't want the UM job

according to Joe Schad on ESPN. says Fitzgerald came off the road from recruiting and reaffirmed his commitment to NW to the AD.

better a better gig for him. he can stay there and go 7-5 every year and everyone in the country thinks hes brilliant from having NWern "in the hunt" for a big10 championship. that theory is actually the smartest thing a coach can do. make a shitty school barely relevant and your a really great coach

Is it a powerhouse football program? no. But Northwestern is not a shitty school.
