Lane Kiffin was bound to make his typical bad decisions at some point.
This is like his decisions to go for it in 4th down at his own 20.
Decisions like this are what have cost him from more hardware in the past.

I've yet to see one constructive post explaining why it's bad. Someone posted that kentucky fans didn't like him and that grew legs and now continues to get regurgitated on TD. The rant isn't known for having the best opinions. It's just group think. So until someone gives me an actual reason to think this is a bad hire I'll just assume Lane knows better than the posters here
He coached Bama’s worst OLs this century basically, his UK teams of recent years were atrocious and he helped his OL become less athletic by them being out of shape and overweight.
This isn’t just random people looking to be upset. It’s a straight up bad hire.

Strong melt
Recognizing a pattern of only 2 great years and a ton of mediocre to bad years is not melting.
Nothing this guy has proven shows he is a top level OL coach. I just don’t agree they needed to rush the hire now and settle when there may be significantly better.

You don’t know enough about OL play to determine a good coach vs. a bad coach

If you dig into further in his history it's not great either. I honestly don't see what Lane sees in this guy. His SC lines were not great and even in his first stint at SC they had historically one of their worst lines ever under him in 09. I don't think this was entirely on him though he was coming in from a guy who did an awful job recruiting right before him. Does a bad job at SC so he bolts to Youngstown.
Also, if you dig into his history a common problem his lines have is poor pass blocking. This was even an issue in the NFL lol. He sounds similar to Cregg which I think LSU also brought over to the front office? His lines seem to regress. Either he's bad at evaluating talent, coaching, or a combination of both. He had 2 really good years and lots of mediocre between in his coaching career.

Not me, but every excuse some of you are trying to give Wilford are applicable to Davis.
His history shows two great years surrounded by bad years. Does he run a man blocking scheme or zone blocking scheme. Does he build OL with guards that constantly pull and have the technique and athleticism for it? Does his OL historically get great leverage?
Some of ha do understand the intricacies of OL coaching even if we aren’t paid to do it for a living.
He may shock us, but on paper and based on history, this is an underwhelming hire.

These are offensive coordinator questions

Who is measuring this?

I seem to remember Ky having a super strong running game several years ago, maybe the best in the SEC, Was this under Wilford?

And you think LeBitch Blames is the GOAT while also thinking Shedeur Sanders is a starting caliber NFL QB……
What? I just know Kentucky has the worst oline in the SEC?

In the 2025 college football season, the Kentucky Wildcats' rushing attack was led by Seth McGowan (621 yards, 9 TDs) and Dante Dowdell (528 yards, 3 TDs), with the team rushing for over 2,800 yards and 45 touchdowns overall, averaging around 210 rushing yards per game, showing significant strength in their ground game throughout the year.

He may not be great, but anyone other than Brad Davis is a giant step up.

Wow this hire is not impressive at all too be honest. We already had one of the worst OL coaches in LSU's history and looking where this guys rankings at his previous stops are looks about the same as the guy we are getting rid of.

Now look up how many sacks they’ve given up
