I say San Diego firing Marty Schottenheimer after going 14-2 and hiring Norv Turner.

I thought it was dumb when the 49ers fired Steve Mariucci. He went 57-39 with them i think and made the playoffs 4 times. He was a pretty decent coach to me.

Nebraska ditching Solich after 9-3 was a little strange.

I believe San Diego would have been to a Super Bowl by now if Marty wasn't fired. That guy is a real solid coach...he had a rep for not being able to win playoff games, but damn firing a guy after he went 14-2? Give Brees and/or Rivers enough shots a going to the SB and they'll get your there eventually.

Schottenheimer is a much better coach, but Turner his actually won a playoff game and has them in position to go again.

I'm not saying it was the right move, but you can't say its been a huge failure.

Just got fed up and the parted ways. No pink slip.

I'd say Cutcliff. I'm sure there are others more worthy, but that one came to mind first.

Jerry starting taking credit for some of the team's success. This caused resentment with Jimmy. It all came to a head at a Dallas restaurant one night where Jimmy and some of the coaching staff were having dinner. Jerry happened to walk in and see everybody. He walked over to the table and said hi. Jimmy stared a brick wall through Jerry and said nothing. Jerry stormed off and went to the bar to cool off. Ed Werder happened to be in the bar. Jerry said "you don't wanna miss the story of the year." Ed said "What's that?" Jerry said "I'm gonna fire Jimmy Johnson and hire Barry Switzer." The story has become something of a legend and Skip Bayless describes it in detail in one of his books. Hope this helps.

I think Marty and the team owner weren't on friendly terms. evidently they didn't speak directly to one another for a whole year.

Gotta go with Cutcliffe too.
