Different angle on the coaching search ... Disappointments!

List the top five that you would be most disappointed with the hire if they were to land the LSU job (try to stick with disappointments that actually have a chance to land the LSU job, i.e. don't use Ed Orgeron, Dennis Franchione, etc.).
I just feel that I'm setting myself up for disappointment by tagging my top five candidates that I would be most happy because there is a very good chance (according to our hiring history) that we will hire someone that is not in the list of "favorites" per se.
I'd rather list some guys that I definitely DO NOT want hired, and as long as we hire someone not in that list, then I'd be Ok with the hire. Get my logic here? lol
My top five disappointing hires:
1. Bobby Johnson
2. Gary Pinkel
3. Bo Pelini
4. Jimbo Fisher
5. Ron Zook (just for the fact that I would be embarassed to get Florida's "reject")

Good evening "JP". I am with you on that list, with one exception. Actually I could take the "Zookster", if he was smart enought to hire the right Assistant Head Coach and excellent coordinators. He is one helluva recruiter!

Hey pj! ... I agree, I think Ron Zook is a tremendous recruiter and probably a decent coach overall, and he has done an excellent job at Illinois this year. My reasoning for not wanting him has nothing to do really with his coaching ability ... it simply has to do with the endless ridicule we would endure from Florida fans for the next few years.
Also, wanted to thank you for your insight last night on the Saban thread ... good stuff all around! Although it appears that the Saban stuff has begun to die today, I think there is still a long way to go in this whole process and things could change very quickly in any number of directions with all of the candidates, including Saban and Spurrer.

you just refuse to face the facts that the man can coach football.

If you're talking about Brian Kelly, I think you're missing the point of this thread. I would bet Brian Kelly is a candidate that most people would be happy/OK with. What we're looking for here is hires that you would be disappointed with.

You're quite welcome! One thing is certain, I have "been hanging around" long enough to know that some "crazy" things can happen when it pertains to LSU athletics. And, you are correct in saying, things can change very quickly. I still think the next three to four days are going to be three of the most intriquing days that LSU fans have ever seen. As I said in that original thread, I will only share what comes from "old friends" that still have fun, plyaing "in the game". Too much other conjecture and B.S. already!!!

You want him to be the coach and you put him on your list of biggest dissapointing choices. I can respond to nothing until you can possibly make that make sense.....
