Reading those tweets seemed like it was a bit more than windy.

It was very windy, yes. Wind (winds of this speed, while it was windy, it wasn't close to hurricane-like winds, or anything) is hardly ever dangerous, especially on the ground. I'm sure there were a million things on his mind. His team just got embarrased by Navy and was prepping for a critical home game against Tulsa. He practiced inside the day before (when there was heavier winds, lightning, etc) so it's not like he didn't acknowledge when conditions were dangerous, but it was wind. I'm sure he didn't even think about the tower. You can say that's negligence, but pretend you're a football coach, and there's also someone else specifically in charge of the video departement, the tower, when to come down, etc. You can't worry/think about every little thing (especially when it's not football related and someone else is directly in charge). It's literally impossible to.

I've seen a few people pulled out of TS on a gurney with chest pains during Miles' tenure.

Let's not speak so soon.

Look I see your points as well. I think we can disagree. I'm not saying this was ever the intent of Kelly because nobody would want this to happen. I'm simply saying that this is the type of negligent act that he may have had a duty to monitor. You can say he isn't responsible for having the tower go up, but I disagree. Just by having practice he had a requirement to go up there, and that's due to the coach. And they practiced indoors the day before so Kelly understood the adverse conditions. Not saying he expected this to happen but there is negligence issues here for sure.

Hard to have a discussion when you think this analogy matches up.

It says I'm good at comprehending what I read. You were serious, quit trying to play like you weren't.

My bad then. But based on your other analogies the idea of proximate cause wasn't in your vocabulary.

ND has great facilities. Their stadium is a little outdated, but that 's part of the tradition. BEsideds, Tiger stadium looks like shite anyway.

better recruiting

yes, LSU does have much better recruiting bases than ND does. However, ND has a great budget and the right guy should have no problem bringing in top 10 classes there. Weis managed a few top classes in his tenure.

LOLZ. See Les Miles' tenure. Not to mention ND has better ratings when they play and a much more recognizable name nation-wide than LSU does.

I'm not sure you're being serious here.

Proximate cause was the whole idea behind the analogy. Do you under the concept of proximate cause?

Yeah I understand it. And steve jobs and an ipod factory death wouldn't exactly make sense. Steve Jobs in your analogy is more like Notre Dame. Of course the institution is negligent.

Has the investigation been concluded? Most of the people posting here are just throwing out sausage. No one really knows who decides whether to use the lifts. I doubt seriously that Kelly makes that call on a daily basis. Student managers typically answer to a Director of Operations or Risk Management Officer. Kelly's probably 2 chains of authority away.

Anyway, he's a good coach and did a pretty darn good job this year for ND winning his last 4 after all of the off field distractions.

He wouldn't consider LSU.

That's why we're discussing it. Has anyone here ever been to a practice before? It's not as if these film guys are removed from the practice area. They're right in the middle. Not sure how the ND practice fields are set up but I know LSU's.

Apple would be Notre Dame.

If you want to get technical, ND's chancellor would be like Steve Jobs.

Let me make this simple, since you're having so much trouble. The person who instructed the kid to go up on the tower is the responsible party. If the kid did it on his own, then the party directly in charge of his position is responsible to a lesser degree.

I doubt either of these people is Brian Kelly.

And Steve Jobs is Apple basically. Co-founder and CEO. He doesn't manage every production facility in the country, even though the company is responsible for it, he isn't personally liable. Kelly may be. Kelly is more like the production manager at the facility employing 100 guys.

So yes, ND's chancellor would technically be Steve Jobs.

And not sure why you are so intent on being a dick.

Because you're calling for someone's job without all the facts and with this incredibly ridiculous notion that being the head of football operations means you should lose your job for any accident that takes place with any connection to the football team.

If Kelly calls practice on a rainy day and the team bus driver loses control of the bus on the route to the facility killing a student-pedestrian, should Kelly be fired?

He's responsible for football operations. The bus was being used in relation to football operations.
