Tang, doesn't One Pete leaving make you think bad news is on the way from the NCAA? No way One Pete has sucess in the NFL.

Not really. Everything folks on the inside have heard is that the NCAA is no closer now than they've been for the last 2 years. It's more about PC and Mike garrett. Expect Garrett duties to be limited soon. Huge fat cat boosters have been clamoring for that and now with PC leaving, they have turned up the volume and pocketbooks.

I think the Sanctions/Hammer talk is mostly from two things:

1) Wishful thinking

2) The image of Pete Carroll leaving right after the announcement of the bball sanctions, McKnight Gate, and the Bush fiasco being brought into open court.

If anything, no sanctions will even come down until after the Bushgate trial is undertaken.

I am surprised some of the wishful thinkers are using Damien Williams declaring for the NFL as more evidence. But after his bowl performence, it would have been a shcoker of he stayed.

I don't thik anyone at SC expects the Bushgate thing to go to trial. lake wants money and he will get it at settlement. Lawyers will drag it out and settle very close to the court date. That's what lawyers do.

I don't know if anything to the Bushgate/McNight thing, but you can't deny this seems a little fishy? Why would you leave a program where you're basically guaranteed success, to go to a job where success is so unpredictable? Honestly at USC Carroll can win 9-12 games a season every year and stay as long as he wants. At Seattle I'd say he's got 2-3 years to win or he's out. If if ain't broke don't fix it, but maybe that's just me.

Any team that lets the head coach also be the general manager is setting itself up for failure.
