I know they went after Shoop, but could I get some insight from some AU fans?

The only guy we offered was Kelly. The recurring theme with a DC was stability, so he probably wasn't ever on the radar. We didn't need someone who wanted a HC job in a year or two.

Yea definitely need a long-term solution at DC when malzahn is likely gone in a year. Smh. Why not go with the better coach who may be able to actually save Malzahns job instead of putting the final nail in his coffin?

No flame intended, but why does AU always have immediate success with a new HC, then that same HC struggle so badly three/four years later?

I wouldn't be telling others how to use their money when you just gave steele a fricking raise.

Is this the lie we are telling now? I had not heard.

To answer the OP, he'll no we did not go after Aranda. I'd bet no one in our AD even knows the name. Those morons know very little.

The truth is we went "Auburn Family" first with Charles Kelly. Got shot down. Then Gus used his one connection in college football, Hugh Freeze, to get shot down by Allen. So they srambled and ended up with the worst DC in the SEC because he is related to our associate AD. frick Gus and frick Jay Jacobs.

i see i am not alone....i got kicked off the ITAT site because i said, basically, the same thing.....Our AD rides the "short bus" to work every day and picks boogers all day, not always from his nose, either....one more year of malzahn and the end will come, but it will just be more stupidity to follow

AU fans should be upset about a nepotism hire of a mediocre coach.

Les called Gus and asked him if he had anyone in mind. Gus said, He just called Dog and Dog said no I don't want to be Auburn's DC.

Les said do I have a deal for you. Gus said he was open to anything at this point.

Les told Gus why don't you offer Steele and pay for his salary, and give him a raise. then I will ask Dog if he is available.

Gus said are you frickin with me right now Les? and Les said I may eat grass but I am not kidding you at all.

Gus jumped on it and Les called Arranda. Gus called Les and asked Les why he didn't call Dog, and Les said Arranda is my dog boo.

If only Dog would have said yes.
