Dumb. If he is your guy, you let him go over what probably amounts to a million dollars.

You are assuming Alleva didn't have discussions with Aranda already or that Aranda said he is not going to Texas.

Our decision to hire Orgeron is based on Aranda's promise that he won't leave? Am I understanding you?

Interesting commentary -

My comments strictly as an outside observer -

- Herman wanted the Texas job, Strong's ousting sealed it. Did he play you some, yep.
- If Coach O succeeds to the level you guys want, it will be the biggest upset in coaching ranks possibly in history. He is a flame out waiting to happen, not stable. I predict no more than 3 years at the helm.
- Kiffin would be an idiot to come unless he agrees he is a flame out. O is younger than Saban, Bama program much more stable right now, Kiffin has resurrected his reputation at Bama. O's flame out could leave scold wounds on Kiffin. Kiffin's next move will be a HC job within 2 years. Maybe he replaces O after he burns out.

I don't know what he was thinking....

But your argument to run up the price to make it harder to go after Aranda is silly

Herman was never coming to LSU. Hes been all Texas for a week or more. Texas didn't just decide to hire Herman today.

Alleva did not leak anything... It was gamesmanship of the Texas people that did this.

However, we cannot fire Alleva quick enough for me...

We pay fricking $10million to fire the winningest coach in school history yet we're not willing to pay for a decent replacement

He probably did. He is smart financially and realizes you are broke.

No the report says Herman went back on a handshake deal once Texas was open. A bidding war would just drive up the price for Texas. We had no shot once the Texas job opened up.

bullshite

Who had the highest paid staff in the country? Has Texas ever had the highest paid coach in football?

They just had to hire their 8th choice in baseball

Don't tell me almighty Texas does whatever they want and gets whoever they want.

When it comes to schools at this level, whoever is in charge (head coach) almost certainly won't make a lateral move if they do well over a few years. If a coordinator does well over a few years then they are almost certainly going to want to be the head guy somewhere else.

It's a no brainer, going cheap on head coach to get an expensive coordinator is stupid as that expensive coordinator will be gone pretty quickly if he actually lives up to the high expectations.
