I am watching NC State v Clemson game and am super impressed with the creativity of the NC State offense. I have never heard of their coach,Dave Doeren, but in looking at his record he came in and turned things around at NC State in just a few years. The guy has a solid up through the ranks resume.
If they hold on and beat Clemson, look for his name to be mentioned in a lot of these coaching job openings. He has good head coaching experience and has turned a couple programs around.

I get what you are saying, Doeren has a defensive background.
But he is not a defensive coach at NC State, he is the head coach. It’s his staff he put together, his defense and his offense.

He's done a nice job picking oc's. His seat was kinda warm coming into this season

He did a nice job beating Notre Dame and North Carolina last year, and taking Clemson into overtime with half the talent Clemson had.

The guy was another mediocre season away from being canned. Hell, after last season, the school released a statement just to say he would be retained.
It looks like he's finally got them trending upward, but NC State's problem hasn't been competing with the likes of Clemson and FSU, it's been imploding against the likes of BC and East Carolina.
