Crowton vs Davis (texas OC)

Davis resume' is much more impressive than GC's and he just got removed (not canned because he will remain in the employ of their athletic dept.) from running their offense. they struggled this year with a new QB and tried to change their philosophy from the mccoy led spread to a more run oriented attack. obviously, mack felt a change was needed to go forward. even though their lack of offense was certainly not completely Davis' fault, mack seems to be focusing on the future. now, my point is GC has had 2 awful years as an OC. yes, it was not entirely his fault (OL, QB, etc) but our offense looked worse than texas' did. it was certainly more confused and most of the time was executed poorly. now, is Crowton responsible or what? miles seems to have created a monster bringing BG in to be "passing coordinator" also. damn sure didn't solve any problems. i hope he does the right thing and brings in a leader that will actually COORDINATE our offense. it's pretty damn uncoordinated now.

The fans have been calling for his head for a very long time.
Edit: Not like Mack made this choice based on one year, Davis has been his OC for a very long time and stuck with him when most wanted Davis fired before VY saved him. I am sure Mack had pressure behind the scenes to make a change. Davis just had two great talents in VY and McCoy to cover up his level of suck as an OC.

there probably was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes, but davis offense has not been horrible. davis has won at nc and at texas; you can't just say it was all VY and Colt. i guess my point is i see our offense struggling at pretty much every position and over a fairly long period of time. that whole unit seems dysfunctional a lot of times. it is also a mystery how it is run. is GC in charge? does he take charge? at times, i think he's just a guy that calls plays.

Yes but he had VY and Colt so he does get that credit, simple as that.

Dude, Texas' offense was every bit as bad as ours this year and possibly even worse. Their running game was pathetic and their schedule was much easier than ours.

I support replacing Crowton. But, your reasoning is pretty poor when comparing to Davis, IMO.
Please elaborate on this confusion. I don't think our problems were a result of confusion. Our lack of execution in the passing game is our problem. It's not because the players are confused.
Take this thought one more step to Crowton...
It's pretty easy to make a case against Crowton, but you just failed at it.

I'm not a fan of Davis, but he is without a doubt an upgrade from Crowton.
Of course, a brain damaged monkey who can draw with crayons is an upgrade from Crowton
