Keep in mind that the scheme Wisconsin is running is DAs, along with players that he recruited and taught. We were just getting into different looks later in the year as the guys were getting caught up to speed. On top of that, and I know many say Les didn't meddle in defense, but looking at Steele at auburn, and the differences from week 4 to 5 this year, it seems to me that Les wanted the defense to play much more conservatively. The bend don't break crap.

The difference in talent between LSU and Wisconsin is pretty large so the new DC must still be coaching his arse off.

Do you think Kevin Steele is a better defensive coach than Will Muschamp, or did he benefit from what Muschamp put in place at AU last year?

I was Arandas biggest supporter from day 1. When fans were bitching about his defense I was defending him. I want him to stay as long as possible. I was only trying to get people to quit acting like its the end if he does leave.

But he isn't leaving and I never had a doubt he was....unlike most on the coaching board, I think Alleva and LSU's administration isn't as incompetent as they make it out to be.

I firmly believe Aranda and his defensive staff wanted O because of continuity and because they could see his affect on play.

As far as offensive staff....we shall see. However, I don't see Austin Thomas, Dameyune Craig, Corey Raymond, Aranda going anywhere.

I agree 100% with you.

And yes, people were bitching early on about his defense giving up too many yards.

Oh it's Wisconsin's DC against Aranda right?

Yep, and Aranda deserves a lot of credit for building that defense. I would compare it to the offense that Jimbo built in 2007, and Crowton was able to come in a just call plays.

let's simply your comparison between Wilcox and Aranda.

2015 Aranda's Wisconsin D was ranked #2 overall and has fallen to #7 overall under Wilcox in 2016.

Under Steele, LSU was #10 in total defense and has improved to #8 under Aranda.

So in short, Aranda is a +2 at LSU and Wilcox is a -5 at Wisconsin.

So I would say that Aranda is taking us in the right direction.

Also side note, Wilcox best defense in the SEC was at TN was 16th. His D was from 80th to the mid 30's for most schools and was fired fro USC for being 65th.

So is Wilcox that good, or did Aranda leave him a well coached and disciplined team to take over?

oh no he's definitely more just as incompetent as he appears. This comes from someone that has defended the guy for a while, but he can only make so many boneheaded decisions to where you just have to admit he's a clown.
