Offensive coordinator Will Friend is headed to Tennessee to join the staff of new coach Jeremy Pruitt, according to multiple reports. The Coloradoan confirmed the report through a source close to the program.

Friend, who serves as offensive line coach in addition to offensive coordinator, is the highest paid Group of Five assistant coach in college football at $540,000, according to USA TODAY Sports’ database of assistant coach salaries. He’s coached with the Rams for three seasons, coming with Bobo from Georgia.

He served as offensive line coach for four years at Georgia. Friend and Pruitt were teammates at Alabama in the 1990s.

He can coach, but recruiting was a struggle.

I'll take it. We haven't had a good OL coach since Pittman

Having someone who can actually coach up OL is worth way more than just landing goons.

I hope Feldman's report that he will be OL Coach (not OC) are true.

I don't disagree. Just giving y'all some background.

It only really caused problems when he left.

It is. VOLS247 is saying the OC will probably be Tyson Helton from USC or Mike Locksley from Alabama

Why would Tyson Helton leave his brother at SC? Just seems like an odd move.

Tell that to Orgeron. LSU in dire need of a huge upgrade at that critical position. (WR as well)

Stud then Grimes =

If O is blind to that because of the "BBQ Buddy" thing, he's not the man for the job.

Waiting to see what he does after the Citrus Bowl. You have to constantly evolve, improve and upgrade in the SEC West or you die................

Sounds like Pruitt is bringing in Tyson Helton from USCw to be OC, which is kind of a mild, albeit untintended troll to UT fans clamoring for Tee.

*and he might just still be a position coach, but they're making it sound like he'll be calling plays. I'm skeptical of all things radio, even with the reliable guys after this.

Awesome hire. Seriously, the second best OL coach in America. He will put a solid product on the field in no time.

Love hearing that. Like stated above we haven’t had a good line coach since Pittman.

We’ve sat here and watched a guy, Robertson, start for four years and not get better. Struggled with exact same things he did as a freshman. He came in as a dline recruit. How is that possible?

C Thomas regressed In his time here. Kerbyson didn’t improve at all. Jack Jones looked better as a true freshman than he did as a junior. We ran a zone blocking scheme and no one, NO ONE could make a block on the second level all five years here with Butch. None of them could pass block at all. Meanwhile Butch was trying to fix it by signing high school tight ends and bulking them up. Wtf
