I've seen the critcisim that he's a position coach, not even a coordinator. so? some guys are great coordinators but not HC material - see John Chavis, Lane kIffen.
He's enough of a student of the game to know what pieces you need to win.
i'm just a schmuck football fan but I can see it. Coach Miles couldn't. why don't more coaches imitate saban? He attacks, both offensively and defensively and doesn't quit till the games over.
O gets that. he's got the qualities you want in a head coach.
I'm not sold on him yet. i'm just saying some of these arguments don't hold water.
he's got to win out during the season to have a real shot. but if we can't get fisher or petrino, why would you want anyone else but O? he gets it, and can recruit. he also knows talent at coaching positions as well by now. he'll get the assistants in.
don't think we'll get herman, and i'm not that crazy about him anyway. he doesn't really want to be here. not sure he'd stay long enough to accomplish anything because this is not one of his dream jobs. otherwise he's a smart hire.

you have no clue whether he does or doesn't.

What's wrong with Herman? What do you know about him?

People on this board act like O is dumb and knows nothing about football. They paint a picture of a man who's succeeded on pure emotion and energy and recruiting. I don't think you succeed at programs like USC and Miami and work under 2 of the best coaches in college football without something upstairs.

It is all about recruiting. Any coach who can out recruit Saban will beat him.

O can challenge Satan in the recruiting area
