People have posted rumors it is because of him being a scientologist.
Not sure how much weight I would put in that, but that was a rumor going around.

Former Boise St. coaches suck at big time schools:
Nutt (Arkansas, Ole Miss): meh
Koetter (Az State): shitty, fired
Hawkins (Colorado): Shitty, on the chopping block
If Miles leaves, I hope we stay far away from Peterson and Gary Patterson. Winning at those mid majors is a different ballgame than winning at BCS schools. Meyer is an exception, but he's won everywhere he's been. Peterson and Patterson are in there first head gigs.

The whole thing with Petersen is kind of in the same vein as Charlie Strong not being hired because he is an African American married to a white woman. I would like to think in 2009, you could worship anything you wanted, or be married to anyone you wanted, and as long as you could win football games you'd be cool. That being said, Strong would be a much better hire than Peterson, IMO.

I doubt anyone cares about his religious beliefs. But I hope they care about the shitty track record of Boise St. coaches.

Wasn't he offered the UCLA job a couple of years ago? It's not an elite football school, but it's a decent program history-wise.
