Well, why wouldn't he? There's no job available at LSU.

Just as I suspected. Miles is dicking around, meanwhile all the good DC candidates will get scooped up. VC is gone, Chavis will take the Clemson job, Robinson will likely take time off and sit out a year and Miles gets stuck with who? Get ready for another year of Mallveto. Although Miles will likely just keep Mallory at DC and put Peveto back down to position coach and try to sell the fanbase that stinker.

Swinney is expected to talk with numerous candidates and could schedule a string of interviews during the NCAA-deemed quiet period from Jan. 2-11. The 39-year-old Swinney has not been expected to hire a coordinator prior to the Tigers' Jan. 1 Gator Bowl matchup with Nebraska.

Sounds like some other coach we all know.

are ya'll really dumb enough to think Chavis doesn't know of a likely available position at LSU before he makes a decision about Clemson?

To paraphrase Chicken - "This is called LEVERAGE.."

Agreed that he knows about our likely open position

more support for chavis as a great DC candidate from above linked article...

Chavis, who was promoted to defensive coordinator by former Vols head coach Phillip Fulmer in 1995, fielded the nation's No. 4-ranked defense this season. Since '95, Chavis' defenses have finished in the top three of the SEC nine times. Also during that span, opponents failed to average more than 100 yards rushing a game in seven seasons.
