I think it's a strong possibility that MSU goes after Charlie Strong. I think he'd be a great fit with his defensive mind. What are your thoughts?

Would be a good hire, meyer is young and not going anywhere so would be good for charlie as well if he has HC aspirations.

I don't think there is any doubt in my mind that he has a heart to be a HC- plus, MS STATE already has some good recruits. He's young, fiery, passionate, and would be an excellent hire for STATE. If they get him, I'll be very impressed

Miss St is and always will be a stepping stone to a better job or the death of a career.

It takes a special person to go there.

I disagree, coaches I think would look to make a long run here. Only school in state so easier to recruit, your in the sec, we are a national power again. Miss st is more of a stepping stone than LSU, if you go back to the 90's I agree with you.

Man, Mississippi State would just be rubbing this black head coach thing in Ole Miss's face, wouldn't they?

This would be a reach at best. I am not saying Strong isn't a good coach or couldn't make a good head coach, but he is a unknown as being the head guy. Its a gamble, that State may not be able to afford taking right now. IMO they need to go hire a good lower tier HC who has proven he can run a program. They may have to over pay a bit to get someone like that to come to Starkville, but really if they want to be serious what else can they do?

ain't gonna happen.

Byrne has been quoted as saying he is going after someone who will open up the offense. Therefore i don't see charlie strong being a option being as he is a defensive coach.

This new AD is not the typical MSU AD of the past from what i can tell. He is more of a modern thinker.

Trying to sell him while he's hot?

As much as i like Crowton, he has called some questionable stuff this year. I am not ready to jump all over his sack till I see what he does next year. I want to see what he can do w/ Jordan Jefferson for a full season.

What if Auburn fires Tubbs? Wouldn't MSU try for Tubbs b4 Strong or Dooley?

Greg Byrne was an assistant AD at Oregon the sametime that Chris Petersen was an assistant there. I don't think he will come to State though, more likely to go to a Pac 10 school but man i would love to see a Bosie State type offense after years of the Fail Coast Offense.

dude the gulf coast offense sucked b/c you didn't have a legit QB running it

why would a QB want to go to MSU?

if you look at the region, there are a ton of SEC, CUSA, Big12, and ACC schools that would be much better places

becuase of the fail coast offense. it's hard to recruit a QB when no high schools run it.

it's just the west coast offense. while it is too much for college football, nebraska put up points with it

MSU needs to cater to its strengths and just go to an option-based team. they should have hired paul johnson years ago
