Charlie Strong - Why or why not?

Let me preface that I do not watch the longhorns, however I do know he inherited a program in disarray.
Would he be worth a shot as HC, keeping Aranda, and bringing in someone like Kiffin or Major Applewhite?

I like the guy a lot but I don't think it'd sell well here. He'll get another job though, probably something smaller.

I agree. From everything I have read he wasn't given long enough to succeed, but I have no clue if that's true or not.

He'll make a great DC for LSU after Texas tries to break the bank for a Herman/Aranda combination (for the record I hope that combo ends up in P&G).

I think it would be a no brainer to hire him as DC if Aranda left but I dont think he should get HC job here.

I don't understand why people are bringing up coaches who are getting fired/having awful seasons like strong and brian Kelly for this job. It makes no sense.

I think he can still be a head coach after this, but I doubt it would be at a big program right now. I like him a lot, but I certainly would not want him to be our head coach right now. Now if it was for DC if Aranda happened to leave (which I don't think will happen), then I would love him as DC. He might be interested.

Which is the only reason he still had a remote chance of keeping his job until they lost to a 1-9 Kansas team who hadn't won a conference game in 2 years. Even in disarray, Texas shouldn't be finishing with 7 losses 3 years in a row.

Why do so many people on this board seem to think that Kiffin would leave Alabama for anything besides a HC gig? Why leave the top program in the country right now to take the same job at a program that would be a downgrade at the moment unless he was being offered a promotion to HC?
