Since everyone has an opinion on the situation, who do you all predict would fill the vacancy at LSU?
you know what is tough about that...unless you are extremely plugged into coaching there could be people you would never think to consider. Take Saban for example. But it was his agent (also Tubbys) that felt the job out and then out of nowhere here he came. People always pick the high profile successful current coaches as obvious picks.

this is exactly what's wrong with this whole thread. saban!? nutt!? petrino!?
just idle speculation. just because every tard on the internets spouts those names doesn't mean crap. how many people thought miles would get the job when he was hired?
this translates back to michigan. just because every tard on the net or with a pen says it's miles doesn't make it so.

agree but two questions
1. Is the buyout really 6 mil and 2. do LA HS coaches feel the same way as a lot of our fans do about him? Would he be able to maintain the high level of in-state talent?

I would be fine with everyone but Saban, Nutt, and Tedford.
Spurrier and Tubby would be my favs right off the bat simply because of their ties in recruiting and knowledge of things here. After that, I would have to go with Gruden, Delrio, Rodriguez, and then everyone else.

o LA HS coaches feel the same way as a lot of our fans do about him?

we have seen in the past that too many "NO's" or "not interested" can start to be a problem for a search process.

Brian Kelly from Cincy is a name to keep in mind. Success @ Div II, Western Michigan, and now Cincy.

I'm not mad at him and I'm an LSU fan.

Don't see why not, he recruited decent in Bama. Thats harder than recruiting LA.
It would be interesting to see what he did with top 5 recruits instead of 12-15 ranked recruiting classes.

I used to think I hated Auburn. I realize now that I FEAR them more than hate them
I know that I hate them. I don't fear them and never have, although I certainly respect the quality of their teams and expect a major challenge whenever we play them.
quote:
And the reason for that is Tubby almost always has them up for big games. They consistently overacheive, IMO.
He does usually get them up for big games, but he also has what must be for Auburn fans a maddening tendency to absolutely stink it up in games they should win, particularly early season non-conference games. He only seems to be able to come through big, whether in a particular game or in a whole season, when expectations are low. When his teams are expected to excel, they frequently fall flat. At LSU, he would very seldom be in the former situation, and almost always would be in the latter.
quote:
Tubby would likely be a GREAT hire.
We could do a lot worse, that's for sure, but I don't know if I would call him a great hire. In nine seasons at a power program in the SEC, he's managed only three SEC West titles and only one overall SEC title, even though his major in-state rival has been down for much of that time. And, whether attributable to his own wrongdoing or not, even those accomplishments are tarnished by the fact that at least some of them, including the 2004 SEC championship, were only achieved with very generous assistance from officials.
quote:
But, will the fanbase be willing to forgive and forget the cigar incident?
Well, as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing to forgive. I really never did for the life of me understand why people got so pissed off about Tubby and his team celebrating a win by smoking victory cigars. Red Auerbach of the Celtics used to do it every time they won the NBA title, and nobody ever thought it was classless or problematic in any way.
Tuberville has pissed me off many times in his career...by BEATING us, not by any classless or unsportsmanlike behavior.
I will say, though, that that whole Chaz thing this year really did piss me off. I am not certain that Tubby told him to do it, and it does help that he apologized for Ramsey's actions, but there's still some suspicion in my mind that he did know about it and did instruct Ramsey to do it, a suspicion that is given some credence by Tubby's failure to mete out any discipline whatsoever to Mr. Chickenshit.
However, other than that, I really don't have anything against Tommy Tuberville, and actually kind of like him from a personality standpoint, considering what little I know of it based solely on his public statements and actions.
I would still be only mildly encouraged and optimistic for the future if we hired him, though.

What about Mangino or the guy from Mizz?

we have seen in the past that too many "NO's" or "not interested" can start to be a problem for a search process.
These days, it seems that agents act as the buffer between schools and potential candidates...you would think that gauging interest could be done behind the scenes, unbeknownst to the media and us fans.

Tubby has a ridicules buyout clause of like 6 million. Somebody would have to really want him bad for him to leave Auburn.
