Miles would want his own asst coaches to clean out the Carr regime

Miles has shown he'll gladly be the AD's puppet to get a job he wants. See Jimbo staying and Clay not coming.

I dont think so, and Miles would look like a complete idiot to walk away from a NC team one month before the NCG to take another job. he would be negative recruited forever by other teams if he did that.

i think he'll definitely try to keep both but it'll be up to LSU to decide whether to boot his arse immediately or let him coach the bowl.

Gordy and Hanny were debating that as well. How normally you definitely tell the coach to get the hell out, but normally the MNC isn't on the line, so its weird.

Also, Tubby is going to A&M. Book it!

I love these "Book It's." They almost always seem to be very flawed.

To be honest, I think we could find a much worse head coach for LSU than Tubby. As much as I have railed him over stuff over the years, most of it is because I see Auburn as our most bitter rival, and he is the HC. Other than that, I would be willing to bury all that, and as far as a coach, Tubberville is a very good coach who has his team prepared. With the talent LSU has at it's disposal and the contacts he has already within the south and especially Alabama, he could rack up here I think. Besides, guess who would be coming back as DC.

Agreed. The guy has PROVEN he can coach a team undefeated in the SEC. Not many more guarantees out there than that.

I think someone mentioned this earlier too...that if Les doesnt leave now it may affect recruiting negatively because everyone will be expecting him to eventually leave. While I get that point, wouldnt you expect there always be a possibility of any coach to leave at any time?

How much does LSU stand to make off of a NC? Or just a NC appearance? (I have no idea, but assume it is very healthy).

I just think that right now, we cannot afford (literally) the distraction of a 50 day media circus.

We need the coach and the team to focus without any distraction on (a) beating Arky; (b) winning SECCG; and (c) the MNC. I would dig in quickly if I was Skip and offer Miles the money now. Beat Michigan to the punch. If he wants it, he can announce quickly and if he doesn't want it, he can head north.

With the talent on this team and leadership of guys like Dorsey, Hester, etc, I think they could win it all with an interim coach if necessary.

It appears to me that Del Rio and Cowher would like to run the ball 75% of the time, play good defense, punt the ball, and hopefully win 17-13. The NFL is all about field position and making your opponent go 80 yards. Still needed in college but not as important. Probably would recruit well but the playbook appears very thin and predictable.

Yeah, if you can have success in the NFL, you probably won't be able to handle the complexities of the NCAA.

Wanstadt has been a total failure at every head coaching job he has ever had.

Callahan was handed a great team that went to the super bowl year one and then they went to complete shite. He is the NFL version of Larry Coker.

Groh coached one year in the NFL and only got that job as a last second choice since Bellicheck left for the Pats. And, he looks to actually be turning around a crap Virginia program.

I don't want Tubby. He has already been married to wife one (ole miss) and wife two (AU). Once a cheat always a cheat. He comes here, its just a matter of time before he cheats on us too.

Cheater + a-hole = not a good fit

Let him go to A&M

I used to think I hated Auburn. I realize now that I FEAR them more than hate them. And the reason for that is Tubby almost always has them up for big games. They consistently overacheive, IMO.

I can't believe I'm typing this, but I agree. Tubby would likely be a GREAT hire. But, will the fanbase be willing to forgive and forget the cigar incident?

yea on skike's site they said someone asked him about Miles and he started talking about recruiting and doing things the right way. Carr sure is bitter over losing a recruit he was trying to take out of our backyard

I'm not sure how much input a guy who lost to appy state should actually have.

Look how letting skip name his replacement worked out for the baseball team

you can make excuses for the NFL guys who don't do well in college, but the facts are they havn't been all that successful. And vice versa.

What other NFL HCs have failed in college?

Wannstedt? sucked everywhere
Al Groh? was mediocre in the NFL and has been mediocre in college.

seems consistent....
