There are causes and then there are causes. Some (such as commission of a felony or serious violation of university or significant program policy) require an immediate response. Others for the good of the program you wait until the end if the season to cut bait. If there is cause, I suspect the latter is the case. Those of us who hire and fire have all made a couple of bad hires in our careers and despite our best efforts firing them is ultimately the only solution.

While I would admit I'm far from unbiased, especially compared to literally everyone else on this board, it's not as bad of an idea as it might initially sound.

Rutgers is a disaster. Yes, Chris Ash "had them going in the right direction" last year, but most of that was down to Kill's excellent coaching, not Ash.

Canada could step in and be the HC of a B10 team in 1-2 years if Ash doesn't win games. B10 HC > LSU OC, especially with Swamp Thing trying to run Canada out of town.
