He does. He checks all the right boxes.
* Won 2 NCs.
* Took 2 power 5 schools to their highest levels in decades.
* Great recruiter.
* Repected in coaching circles (in other words, not a clown).
* Wants to coach here, not just hop to the next job (Saban to NFL, Miles to Michigan).
* Also capable of fielding a defense.
* No buyout, leaving money on the table for assistants.

He's won 1 title as a HC and that was 8 years ago with his version of Joe Burrow.
What has he done since 2014 that makes him worth a lifetime contract at LSU?

This makes sense if we hire him for 5/30 but not the megadeal he will demand.

Jimbo-stans
I’m not this, but I have just tried to explain why I’ve evolved to the point I won’t freak out if he comes here, which I felt like I would when his name first emerged as a possibility.
That said, I really don’t think he’s coming here so I won’t waste time answering your post. If he does, I’ll happily have this debate. Repeatedly, I’m sure

I will say that saying hiring Jimbo away from A&M at 6M per year would be “reasonable” just shows how unreasonable your bias is against him.

Who the frick cares about this ?

I don't think there are any "jimbo stans." Some of you are stuck on this notion that if you're not 100% for a guy you're a stan for another. I'm not a stan for any coach.
I just think some say they wouldn't jump off of a building if he were to be hired. He was never and is not #1 on my list.

I’m guessing he’s crediting Jimbo with the NC here ?

His results since 2014 don't really make him worth much more than that. Let's say $6.5M, just under Ryan Day and just outside the top 10.

You're wrong. One just posted in this thread.

It’s just a really boring hire that completely lacks any upside
This was supposed to be the year Jimbo really established A&M and he’s gone 0-2 against the Mississippi schools
I don’t want Napier at all but at least he wouldn’t be bringing a dull arse offense that put up 3 points through 3 quarters against Ole Miss’ D

The way Jimbo got away from the running game last night when they were turning the game in their favor reminded me of Charles Scott not running in the second half against Kentucky when it was working.

Reading comprehension a problem for you? I told you, Woodward cares. A lot. That's also why Mulkey got hired. She wanted back in La., and ain't leaving.

No one really gives a shite what you think LSU should do with their coaching salaries. FYI

Is that also why Jay Johnson got hired? He wanted to return home and never leave us ?

Is that how you admit defeat? The topic at hand was Woodward hiring coaches that want to be, and remain in BR, as much as Scott does. It's really not that hard of a concept. If the choice is between Riley, waiting to jump to the NFL, and Jimbo who wants to come home, Woodward knows exactly how Jimbo feels. And appreciates that.

That’s just typical arse backwards Louisiana thinking, don’t go get the best because they might leave you one day. You hire the best. If they leave you for someone else chances are it’s because they were successful here, so what’s the problem? “Ah the NFL will never want Jimbo better go with him and not the guy they may hire away because his offense is cutting edge.”
Do you think anyone regrets the Saban hire one bit because he left us for the NFL?

This is some egregious revisionist history here.
FSU’s highest levels were under Bowden, Jimbo didn’t come close.
His last two years there included on-field arguments with heckling fans, demands that he upgrade his staff, blowout losses like giving up 63 points to Louisville, and finally his dismissal at 5-6 before the last game of the year.
Things finished horrendously bad at FSU.
Now he’s had 4 seasons at aTm and they include a 3 loss, a 4 loss, and a 5 loss year.
He checks no boxes; leave him where he is.
