ETA: In the NFL Billick was a players' coach whose players hated him.

No chance.
ND seems to have everyone guessing this time around. Last few coaching searches were terribly run and they just hopped from candidate to candidate. Lots of mis-information being spread.
I've seen Stoops, Gruden, Meyer, Kelly, Patterson, Peterson, Muschamp, Ferentz, Harbaugh, Fitzgerald, Saban, Tedford, and now Billick linked to the job.
I don't think anybody knows.

Billick would be a horrible hire. The man was supposedly an offensive genius after his tenure with the Vikings, and the goes to Baltimore and had horrific offense after horrific offense. He won a super bowl entirely on his defense led by Marvin Lewis.
ND really needs to avoid the pro ranks. Unless there is a Saban-like NFL coach, meaning great college coach but went to the NFL and struggled, NFL coaches are the highest risk.
There is a difference between having a GM get you top notch players, and you haven't to sell a program to kids.
