Oh, God please.

quote:

Dan Mullen has emerged as Miami's top choice to replace fired head coach Randy Shannon, according to a report on CaneSport.com, the Miami site on rivals.com.
CaneSport, the first media outlet to report Shannon's firing, says Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt is focusing his search on Mullen, the current Mississippi State coach and former Florida offensive coordinator, and Jon Gruden. Gruden has publicly denied any interest in the Hurricanes job.
Mullen has become one of the biggest coaching prospects to be named this year with the way he has turned around Mississippi State's program in the brutal SEC West. Mullen led the Bulldogs to an 8-4 mark this year in his second season and they will play in just their third bowl game dating back to 2000. MSU was 4-8 in 2008, the year before he took over.

Didn't canesport just say that Grunden (sp?) was a lock barring a 'last minute glitch'?

Well, I guess there was a glitch.

Does Les and Mullen have the same agent? Maybe Les knows something because he just offered a scolly to a solid MSU QB commit.

I clicked on that and got this

quote:

Jon Gruden and University of Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt will meet Wednesday to finalize details of a contract, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Tuesday.

The newspaper cites two sources, including one close to the situation. Earlier Tuesday, the Sun-Sentinel reported that a Gruden-Canes pairing was "definitely still in play" despite a public denial by Gruden.

CaneSport.com, the Miami site on rivals.com, reported Tuesday that Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen had emerged as Miami's top choice to replace fired head coach Randy Shannon. Mullen, however, told The Clarion-Ledger newspaper Tuesday that he has "not talked to anybody" and seemed unaware of his seeming frontrunner status.

“Oh? That’s nice. You’d probably need to talk to my wife about that. She’s around the corner and she really likes Starkville, Mississippi,” Mullen said during a university function.

Earlier, Mullen tweeted: "with all the rumors, all i am mulling over is the flu and what bowl we are going too" (sic)

Mullen has become one of the biggest coaching prospects to be named this year, given how he has turned around Mississippi State's program in the brutal SEC West. Mullen led the Bulldogs to an 8-4 mark this year in his second season and they will play in just their third bowl game dating back to 2000. MSU was 4-8 in 2008, the year before he took over.

Gotta feel a little badly for Mississippi State. Hard to keep a good coach!
