Head Coach San Diego State University and considered a very good, detailed, disciplinarian of a coach. Other schools will come after him if UM does not.

I hope you didn't graduate in math from LSU! Is 1M per year for 15 years the same as 3.75M for 4? Please don't say yes!!!

The point is guaranteed money genius. Not that his exact potential salary would be the same.

The other point is that if Les were going to his alma mater that he claims to love with all his heart, he'd be willing to take slightly less pay annually to help rebuild them.

They don't have to necessarily match his annual salary.

He's comparing 4 years to 6 years.. you tossed out 1 and 15.

Ok...either we're wrong on the $1.25M or all this jazz from UM abt the buyout being too much is Brandon telling Les to forget abt it

Please explain this extra $5 million? As for being old, not even close. 63 wouldn't be that old for many coaches. If you are talking over just a 4 year period, sure, but we are talking guaranteed money. If Les doesn't win the SEC West in the next 2 years he'll be gone. Believe it.

you can't be this dumb.

so which job would you take 15 million for 6 years or 15 million for 4 years. when miles contract runs out after 4 years, he can re up a contract for 5 million at 2 years, therefor his 6 year contract would be 20 million. they are not even close to being the same.

The theory is the same. Think about it...would you rather get 15M over 4 years or would you rather have it paid over 6? Is the time value of money worth nothing? They are definitely not the same. Just saying!

The point is that right now, he'd have the same money guaranteed. That is all. Annual salary would be dependent at UM on benchmarks just like LSU.

I am not saying that Les will get more money at UM than LSU. As of right now, he wouldn't. However, that was Rich Rod's contract, not a MNC winning head coach that is considered one of the best recruiters in the country.

Les would likely get a little more than that. Guaranteed money is the point here that you are all missing. Les has to have a new contract to extend it beyond 2014. The 8 win extension rule only was supposed to allow up until 2014 according to some others well informed with the contract.

When he gave the memorable speech pre-SEC championship game in 2007, even the most optimistic of people didn't see all the chips falling into place where LSU would play in the national championship game if they won the SEC title game.

Winning the SECCG required him to be paid the top 3 in SEC. That alone brought him up to nearly his current salary.

This is big boy football and LSU isn't using a buyout to keep Miles from going back to his alma mater. No way.

Detroit News saying Hoke would easily accept the offer if asked

I would too if I'd had 3 winning seasons out of 8 years as a head coach and then someone wanted me to take over one of the biggest names in college football.
