Nebraska 2003: #3 in the nation behind LSU and UGA.

LSU 2005: #3 in the nation.

LSU 2006: #4 in the nation.

LSU 2007: #17 in the nation with a national title.

I agree with other posters that offenses have changed so much since he's been a DC.

I'd prefer him over Kris simply because Kris' zone scheme won't mesh well with our players at all.

I prefer Chizik over Bo in terms of great DC but one is more modern than the other.

Yeah, after the first few years at Nebraska his defenses considerably declined including his final season his defense didn't rank lower than 50 in any category and 80+ in some other categories. He struggled against spread teams even after he left LSU including getting blown out giving up 70+ in a title game.

While he was a fantastic DC almost 15 years ago doesn't sound like he adjusted well to modern NCAA changes to the spread. HC or not he had to be heavily involved with those defenses. Did a good job first few seasons then it slowly nosedived past that.

1) That’s all >10 years ago
2) YPG is a horrible evaluation for modern defenses

Our national championship HC's success has been solely because of his ability to evaluate talent both on the sideline and the field..

If O thinks Kris is the right fit, Kris is the right fit.

Chiz would be a much better hire than Bo. You just have to wonder with him he's been out of the game for awhile but I think he could adjust fast to that. He was also an excellent recruiter. I'm wondering why he never ended up anywhere else. Maybe he doesn't want to? or waiting for the right opportunity? Don't know. It's rare to get a DC who can scheme and recruit.

This is not a troll, just a honest question. What coaching hires has Coach O made to make you completely trust his evaluating?

He was a great coordinator while he was here but for some reason I cant forget the 2 triple overtime games where the defense couldn't stop a nose bleed.

I guess those are the outliers, I also remember his defenses getting a bunch of turnovers.

That's my concern. The guy hasn't been a DC in 12 years.

He's also a lunatic.
