not surprising, I think he'll turnout pretty good w/ Houston's surplus of talent already

he is a hot name of late

and he has done a really good job with a terrible situation, but there's a real question of how he would do when he was actually expected to succeed at a higher level. I think the answer to that one is obviously yet to be determined.

You can either go with a safe hire like a Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden, or Lovie Smith or you can try and hit a homerun with someone who was/is a coordinator.

It works out really well sometimes, the next great coach has to come from somewhere in the lower ranks eventually.

Rumor has it Bill O'Brien left because of Paterno's family and followers antagonizing him. ESPN just spoke of an off the record interview where O'Brien goes HAM on the Paterno's.

That family is destroying that University.

It's all over ESPN. It isn't some BS they made up either. The interview is real and O'Brien goes in on the Paterno's. O'Brien told the reporter to hold off releasing it and keep it off record till he got out of town.

ESPN basically said O'Brien is leaving because the Paterno clan wouldn't shut the hell up about how he ran the program.
