We have to hire a top coach, if Alleva gambles on young talent we will lose some of the class.

So ending up with another coach may not be such a bad thing. If you haven't noticed, I don't think much of Miles. I believe that many coaches put into the situation that he walked into could have done just as good, or better.
Given the current state of the LSU football program, i.e top notch facilities, and good players, I believe that we can find a better coach to come in and use the talent that we currently have better.

most every program in American "can" find a better coach, the question is, in any given situation, what is the probability they "will" find a better one. I have no interest in any other coach that can lead the team to 10-2 records, no matter how well they manage the clock or speak to the media. At this point we're just as likely to end up with a Dabo Swinney as we are a Gary Patterson.

To think that you can just go out and find someone that is going to win 10-11 games in 4 out of 6 years and win a national championship is foolish thinking.

I'll believe Miles is leaving LSU when I see it; I don't think it's going to happen. If he pulls the shocker, then I foresee LSU probably hiring someone like a Miles (current head coach at a major college who's had success) -- like Pinkel at Missouri. I don't think Patterson or Mullen are going anywhere. I DO think Tubberville would be given consideration and it wouldn't shock me if he were the hire. I think Saban or Gruden are pipe dreams, but sure, they should be contacted. Pelini is a possibility.
So, my list of top 5 REALISTIC candidates (and again, purely hypotheticial since I doubt Les is going anywhere, is 1. Pelini 2. Pinkel 3. Tubberville 4. Charley Strong? 5. Peterson (Boise St.). Not a particularly sexy list, but there it is.
