Will Wade is from Nashville, TN

Our new baseball coach Jay Johnson just moved here from Arizona from a Power 5 school and he's from California.

Being able to compete and win championships is everything to these guys. They don't live in your income brackets and don't worry about your day to day problems.

Ironically, one of the reasons Saban is in Tuscaloosa is because Ms. Terry hated South Florida.

Yessir, Baton Rouge is an absolute dump, so yes, it comes down to $$$$$, and there are some who will avoid Baton Rouge thus LSU altogether. I agree entirely. The down votes are from all the people that are dumb enough to still reside in Baton Rouge - i.e. mine and my wife's family members - and they're offended when folks speak negatively about Baton Rouge.

I’ve heard this before. Is it because of Nick having affairs?

I’m sure he has women interested in him in Alabama as well, although the quality of women is obviously not the same (less temptation), and it’s way easier for her to keep an eye on him.

You'd live on Plank Road for 1/4th of what LSU will pay the new coach

There are about 10-12 football programs where you can consistently compete for championships. It's a scarce commodity and one of them is in BR.

Haha lot of interesting stuff here. The thread wasn't originally designed to be the roast of Baton Rouge. My main point was that we shouldn't be surprised that we have to over pay coaches. In fact, we should already be prepared to waaaaaay overpay coaches if there is any hesitancy on their part stemming from BR. The extra $$$ is worth it to get the best.

I don't even think it's necessarily to overpay someone. When you are super rich any place in America can be a decent place to live, including BR.

Marcus Freeman

Marcus Freeman backed out because the staff was on the hot seat. He is a coordinator. They’re not making a lifetime commitment.

Marcus Freeman chose ND over LSU because of the HC. Freeman knows the difference between Orgeron and Kelly.

How many other SEC towns/areas have you been to? Serious question.

All but Missou. If I take off the purple and gold glasses, all were probably more desirable than Baton Rouge to raise a family.

I’m not saying we can’t get a great coach. I’m just saying it will be a factor for some. It depends on what the coach and his family is looking for.

Are you in Birmingham? That city has plenty of crime and seedy areas. Most years it's a top 10 murder market.

Lived in the suburbs of Bham when I made the name. Lots of family there, which was the draw. Not sure I would move back.

I've always thought UCLA should be more of a destination for coaches. Population and location is fantastic if you've ever been to the campus.

North Carolina is a great place but basketball is king

SLC is incredible I can see why Whittingham has never entertained leaving. Salt Lake is also booming. The quality of life is outstanding . Hiking in the mountains. Skiing. Cool city scene...it's not just for Mormons anymore
