Or Columbus OH, Gainesville FL, or Tuscaloosa?

Marcus freeman turned us down after we offered more money because his wife found South bend more desirable.

It is what it is. BR isn't anything special.

BR is a shite hole. Always has been and always will be. I was born there and lived there 7 years. Could not wait to get out

Don’t you think O’s difficulty hiring coordinators was more to do with O and less to do with BR.

Not that this isn’t possible but someone else said he was warned that this coaching staff wouldn’t be intact soon and that was why he didn’t take the job. Maybe it’s both but I doubt we’ll ever know.

No. Went to college and law school at LSU. Love the school but hate BR.

His wife also told him no. Either can be true

I do believe both

It's amazing that the Baltimore Ravens or Detroit Lions can ever even hire a coach

Norman is nothing special either, but Baton Rouge is an absolute shithole. There's a huge difference.

It's not that other places are great, it's that Baton Rouge is terrible.

Marcus Freeman didn't come because he didn't want to work for Coach O.

If I'm making $10M per, pretty sure BR gets more attractive. I mean, there are some nice digs in that price range.

Note - this is somewhat of an off topic rant. Let's be honest, Baton Rouge isn't the prettiest of places. While many of us think logically and believe that a coach (even a current big P5 coach) should have LSU at the top of their list because championships, talent, etc., the quality of life aspect plays a role too (See Marcus Freeman). Money is the only way to overcome this dilemma when competing against other top brand teams. Would you all agree with this? I'm not going to sit here and act surprised when a big P5 coach turns us down. But I will be surprised if we didn't throw enough money at him to compensate for what we know isn't exactly the imperial city. I just think we are going to have outbid other programs, and outbid them by quite a margin, if we ever want to get out top tier or "home run" candidates.

I know I'll be downvoted into oblivion for this, but I wouldn't live in Baton Rouge for a 200% or even 300% pay raise.

Quality of life is more important than more money once you hit a certain income level.

Winning is more important than anything in college football. These guys are nomads. Staying somewhere for 5+ years is abnormal.

You guys are trying to apply the logic of being a CPA with 3 kids living in the suburbs to some college football coach making 8 million per year. It's not even the same stratosphere.
