The better question is did you watch before this year?

The guy came to Bama under a dream scenerio. A big time, experienced O-line (built by Shula btw) and an experienced QB who wouldnt make big mistakes...

This statement infers that McElwain came into a situation with a QB who wouldn't make mistakes. Did you watch Wilson last year? There probably aren't too many people who followed Alabama football last year that would have thought, coming into this year, that Wilson was a quarterback who didn't make huge mistakes. Case in point - Mississippi State game. The fact that he actually far exceeded expectations this year is irrelevant to your original statement.

His QB rating wasnt that bad...maybe he had a few visible mistakes last year, but he wasnt any worse than Matt Mauck or Flynn going into this year. He was very servicable going into this year. Thats all you want with the best oline in cfb and very good RBs...and a superstar freshman WR.

OT- I believe we briefly met in Vegas in early October.

I was walking by the poker room with LSU gear on and was high fived by a fellow Asian Tiger fan.

Could this have been you?

Had I known you were Egg, which I suspected when I saw you post you were in Vegas at the same time afterwards, I would have stopped to chat.

I was on my way to the sportsbook to place some bets.

I've been probably six times, and that weekend was the best I've had by far.

I actually used BB27's picks from the pay site, and all 6 were winners.

very nice.

all was not lost though, i hit a $50 6 team teaser that netted about 400...crazy shite is that i didn't need the teased points, or else i would have made like 2 grand off a regular parlay.

where did u guys stay?

I've been following this situation closely. My sources say that McElwain is not a candidate. Second link is the Las Cruces Sun article about the ten candidates that is linked in the first link.

LINK

LINK

This was the Sun's beat writer's take on the 3 finalists (note, Norwood said no already yesterday).

LINK

The NMSU AD wants Walker but it would mean a $130,000 paycut to take over the worst program in D-1. The Aggies have the longest bowl drought of any team (48 years and counting).

update story on al.com

from bama beat reporter Ian Rapperport

(UPDATE AT 1:50 P.M.: I just spoke to someone at New Mexico State. McElwain is no longer a candidate for this job, the person said. McElwain was not one of the on-site interviews, though the school was interested in him at the beginning. McElwain declined an interview with the school, the person said.)
