You don’t hire a coach based on one game

Unfortunately is beginning to be a pattern.

Just wait until you see what Nick Saban does.

Technically he’s a candidate

I agree. If Nick Saban wins his game, we should get him.

But, if he loses, I’m ok with him not coming here, either ;)

Between posters overreacting on a game by game basis and all the false sources and trolls, it’s going to be a long 5+ weeks until a hire is made.

Probably better to look at a larger body of work.

Last 2 years:
Freeze 17-4
Aranda 9-8
Campbell 14-6
Riley 18-2
Lane 12-7
Napier 18-2
Jimbo 15-3
Mel 10-5

Have to put an asterisk next to records compiled in a lightweight conference.

I guess you would have define what a weak conference means.
Here are the Bowl records from last year vs. Other conferences

Based on winning percentages, big 12 was first with sunbelt second. Ironically Riley and Napier had the two best records .

Bowl record by conference
Conference Bowls Record Final AP Poll
SEC 9 7–2 (0.778) 4
AAC 6 1–5 (0.167) 1
ACC 6 0–6 (0.000) 4
Conference USA 6 0–6 (0.000) 0
Big 12 5 5–0 (1.000) 4
Sun Belt 5 4–1 (0.800) 2
Big Ten 5 3–2 (0.600) 4
Mountain West 3 2–1 (0.667) 1
Independents 3 2–1 (0.667) 2
MAC 2 2–0 (1.000) 2
Pac-12 2 0–2 (0.000) 1

I don’t think so. Because the level of the team will still be relative. If he’s not at an sec school he doesn’t have the recruitment pull our schools have. He’s going to get the level of player that the conference has. Plus location of the school they are at matters.

Those were two terrible calls by Michigan State on third-and-four and fourth-and-four. It’s four down territory. Run the damn ball.
